At home I use COSTCO. On the road I use what ever is next. I have never had a problem.

I use Costco gas as well. It all comes from the same refineries and Costco uses an additive that's similar to V-Power or Techron but runs $0.20-0.30 a gallon cheaper than Shell or Chevron

I generally use the following, in order of preference:

I've used all the other major brands randomly...and always use 93...but I can never figure out which ones make the chirping go away...so if Shell = no chirps...I may switch over.

Purportedly, having no ethanol helps with the chirps. It's not Shell that helps, but avoiding the ethanol.

But ethanol blends depend on your local area.

As others have said, there is no such thing as "Shell Gas" or "Exxon Gas". All the gas in your local area comes from exactly the same distribution facility in your area, which pulls gas from national pipelines that all refineries pump into.

The only difference you may have, is that some major brands put in some cleaning additives (like Shells' "V-Power") when pulling from the local distribution facility. Ethanol blends are done much further up the 'stream'.

Odds of finding that lone station not getting their gas locally that may have different blends aren't that great. Chances are, if you've got ethanol blends in your area, it's ALL ethanol blends as many distribution centers don't bother with both (this seems to blend the further from the coasts you get, with ironically enough, it going away altogether the closer you get to 'corn country' in the rural midwest -- they've had ethanol blends there for decades and most avoid it when possible). You'd have to look mighty hard to find someone that's not. But if you can, that'd be a good place to start to try to eliminate the chirps.

Only some Shell stations near me are ethanol free, but others are not. I only burn the ethanol free, and have never had chirps in nearly 5000 miles so far, 3/13 build.

Id say VP because they do a lot of racing fuel but I have no proof. I use QT a lot because there are a lot of NEW stations near me and no problems for me.

Do I need a Costco membership and is it good quality? I don't recall seeing any Costco gas stations in New York though...
