As soon as we were aware of the oil cooler issue, we sent emails to all of our customers to give them a heads up and have them check/keep an eye on the oil cooler. If anyone noticed anything, they were instructed to contact us and we would go from there. The delay in exchanging the oil cooler came from the fact that Mocal is located in the UK and getting the new versions from them isn't quick. That, and getting the US importer the parts to test, all took more time than we would have liked. I do understand the frustrations people may have, and I do apologize for that. We have done everything we can to expedite the replacement cores and make sure our customers were taken care of. For those who have read the threads we are participating in regarding the coolers, sorry if this all sounds like a broken record. I understand it is hard to keep up with all the posts that are being made from us, and without reading the entire thread, it may come across as we blew this guy off. That is not the case at all. We take things like this (especially when it's a part we don't make and don't have complete control over) very seriously. We are receiving 100% tested cores next week to send out to our customers, along with the new updated ones. We will get all our customers taken care and put this behind us and keep rockin' with these oil coolers! |

There are no winners here. Yeah, it sucks but it will get sorted out in the end. The fact that will take time is unfortunate but.... c'est la vie. |

Hi Perrin!
Have you guys had any issues with leaks from where the lines connect to the cooler? Mine was tightened correctly and not cross threaded, but it still leaks from the passenger side fitting (not a large leak but it's doing it) |

Some of it, yes. My response was based on the op's statement that they were not interested in working out an alternative for him.
AND the fact that they did not offer up a little something for his trouble like a T-Shirt, Coffee mug, ball cap.... something to say.. hey mr customer, sorry your having this issue with our product we want to keep your business. Emailing all the customers that have purchased from them and replacing all of the potentially bad cores should be considered the minimum acceptable solution, not going above and beyond.

that makes me lol. If you had a company to run and make money, you wouldn't be saying that. Perrin is already doing a very good job at fixing their issues. When they sell a kit to someone, it doesn't state the person HAS to get it professionally installed, hence it is the owner's responsibility to deal with extra costs associated with installation/removal. It does suck, however, to have to pay your shop twice for a faulty unit, but I do believe the issue has been resolved to the best of what Perrin has to do. If he had installed it by himself, he wouldn't have to pay someone twice to do it.

Would it be nice if they did pay for the re-installation? Sure. It just doesn't work that way generally. There are defective parts that make it through, it's just the nature of the world.
Most of the time the installer is the one who gets screwed (at least on OEM parts) because they get the part for the customer. Bringing 3rd party parts into a place and asking them to install them generally puts the onus on the customer. That's part of why I initially posted up my experience. No one warned me and while I didn't loose money paying someone to install the kit, I didn't want someone else to. In the end I think this issue comes down to this: Some of us feel like if you put your name on a part, and put that part in a box with your name on it, and then make money selling it, you are ultimately responsible for the performance of the part... or lack there of. Perrin and other people feel differently about the subject. I've talked with Perrin_Mladen via a few PMs and we just don't see eye to eye on it, and that's okay. That's why there is room for other options out there. |
