The grand sport hash marks are rice even on Corvettes, they have nothing to do with racing and first appeared on production C4s. Hash marks were used only once, at the 1963 Nassau TT, because Mecom Racing were running three Grand Sport Corvettes of exactly the same color. In order to tell them apart while they were coming down the pit straight, they taped hash marks of a different color on the nose of each car. Race teams do the same thing to this day, but usually it's with the color of the windshield banner. The whole red stripes on the fender thing is GM's factory BS.

No, they were invented by Briggs Cunningham in 1951, to make his cars easier for spectators to identify.

I'm a massive Subaru nut (just look me up on NASIOC) and I've NEVER seen that.

...then again I live in the actual performance areas and never venture to 'ricer' alley.

saw this on the iwsti link
'Vtec badges are also available on ebay and make a nice touch.'

ohhhh yeah I remember the fender stripe fad it was a long time ago though. I'd say around 4-6 years ago. I wouldnt say that everybody was doing it but there were quite a few big threads on Nasioc when this trend was going on (now nasioc is filled with threads on neon colored wheels -___-)... anyways I remember it also hit the the corvette crowd... I doubt itll make a come back though

I've seen this pattern stripe before, but never on the streets or on a subaru. If the fender stripe perhaps does become a fad, I wouldn't mind it at all.
What really bothers me the most is when people put fake buick fender vents on their cars (or any vent really), adding crap loads of chrome everywhere they can possibly imagine, and putting fake badging on their cars. I'd list more, but that's what really annoys me most.
