Like vortech this kit will be completely street legal (CARB certified). You will not have to remove the supercharger. That is the point of going through the hassel of CARB certification...so that it is not off-road only.

Btw, if you are in that much of a hurry, I'm sure you could snatch a kit from Australia one way or another.
Might I point out that the ENTIRETY of my post kicking off this duscussion was:

_____

Personally I think their approach sets their company philosophy above the other brands who are dumping their crap all over the market like crack dealers. From experience, I'd say the whiny impatient customers are the ones you don't want to buy your products anyway, too much hassle often leading to a loss. Better to cater to more competent and less neurological customers that don't ask for updates every 5 minutes.

If one were to actually think about what's involved in the tuning process, all the variables, the marketing, and support they will have to deliver, everything they've done makes sense apart from the mistake of promising early dynos and letting certain folk talk about it.

The fact that the kit is offered in Australia and not in the US yet tells you everything you need to know. So just think about what those differences are.

I think you should start a new thread discussing CARB approval of parts and post all future comments there. Please leave this thread unjacked.

Curiously enough, this discussion about CARB approval delaying the Innovate release is more relevant than most of the topics we've seen in any of the Innovate threads.

Is that the only thing keeping it from being released in the states still or is there more testing? Can the rest of us get a non-nazi state compliance version so we can get it earlier?

Good question. I don't even know if that's the real reason for keeping it from being released in North America - a few folks on here mentioned that, but nothing official was stated.

Entering through the back is fine. There's plenty of room back there, and earlier in this thread there is a picture of one of these installed with the Cusco tower bar as well.

Yes, that's where the IC will be installed in this one too.

I still LOL at people getting upset that this thread gets hi-jacked or sidetracked. After all the title of the thread is: "What I found while searching the web".

It's not titled: "Official all-things-Innovate-SC thread".

just sayin'

So calm down and enjoy the show. I personally learned some things about CARB I didn't already know and didn't care to seek out for myself. Don't be afraid of debate, it of often moves the conversation forward.

R&D is often the least sexy part of things. It only looks good when the job is done. CARB cert involves even more R&D than you already did to make the product in the first place. It can easily surpass the development budget. You have to give CARB 3 vehicles with 3 of whatever you made and prove that they all do equal or better than factory emissions.

States have adopted their own CARB style of emissions checks and laws, but the California board is not meddling in those other states. Some states fail you if there is any CEL, others don't care as long as the tailpipe is clean. IM240 dyno testing is a few steps above a tailpipe sniff at idle. I believe it's worth it to go for CARB cert. If it'll pass CARB regs, then it'll pass anywhere. CARB cert is also a bit of bragging rights.

Ever see a sexy model getting ready for her show? The process is tedious, time-consuming, detail oriented, and procedural to get her to look that good. When the show is over, all of that prep comes off. That's analagous to SEMA show prep.
All of the prep work and R&D has to stay and last for years and years on all of these systems.

Consider a 15-25 year lifespan for parts, too. Racers will always blow stuff up. That's what we do . Who blows up the least, wins :p. What impresses me about all of these systems is that you really can leave them alone and they perform fine. You don't have to change plugs for highway use, or re-jet, or pull over and let it cool off on long trips. Users have more demands nowadays. CARB is just part of that picture.

Well I finally got a chance to Drive Kartboy's SC'd 86... Impressive. comes to mind. Instant throttle response and very linear power. The Power delivery was spot and and the engine mapping seemed to coincide with the power. I truly was impressed by the simplicity of the kit and results. It felt very much like a Stock WRX on delivery except it came on quicker. If I had to guess at what the car is putting down.. I would say around 225whp and about 200 Torque .. thats an educated guess on my part. But it definitely has me thinking to the future.. Thanks to Kartboy for allowing me to drive it.

Dont forget we had two fat guys after eating burtos for your test drive. That right there is good for a NEGATIVE 25-30 HP.
