What are your goals with the kit? Meth can be added to the kit but the better questions what are your goals. There may be other more important things to add first.

no particular goal. i want to use water or a combination of methanol/water to decrease or eliminate detonation. i don't really care about the increase of HP. i'm more concern about engine longevity. i wanted AVOTURBOWORLD opinion with regards to injecting water or water/methanol.

I'm sure Paul will answer as well. The biggest part of controlling detonation with our crappy California 91 is going to be in the tune. Your tuner can alway run on the safer. Additionally with an upgraded radiator and oil cooler you will help control the heat which will also help with longevity. As for WMI it never hearts to have a fail safe system in place if you are worried. You can also tune on e85 but due to the limited availability in the SoCal and unknowing of posable e85 stations during the trip it makes it hard to want to make the jump to e85.

I know Paul has been running the kit on his car for several thousand miles without WMI without any problems. But I'll let him provide more information.

It should be ok, yes. But we haven't done it ourselves.

We may be overly conservative in this philosophy, but we tend to engineer towards the kits being able to be run on what's available, as if it were a stock setup. Variables like e85, meth, etc., are not considered for that reason. That's not to say they don't work, but if you are worried about knock, that's what the base stage 1 is setup for, running on 91 octane without worry.

It's officially been about a year now since we turbocharged the AVO FR-S here in the States (the JDM car has been going longer than that). The reason I can say that is because I am now prepping for another trip to SEMA, and it was last year's SEMA when we first fitted the kit stateside. 20,000 miles and still motoring along!

On a side note - due to SEMA, we won't be in the office next week!

Ross of AVO Turboworld Japan just recently ran in the RevSpeed Super Battle at Tsukuba Circuit in Japan. The Super Battle is an open time attack event held by RevSpeed magazine.

Almost no oversteering and the Control wheel seems so easy to turn...
Anyone care to explain? Just me being a noob with no knowledge?

It's all about the one fast lap at the time attack, so drivers tend to go 1 fast, 1 cooldown, 1 fast, 1 cooldown lap patterns. So some of the laps he's is just cruising, some he's going harder. Coming out of the corners, he'd be careful with the throttle because with the power it's putting down, it's easy to just light up the rear tires which is fun to watch but isn't the fastest way through the course.

So, yeah, you do have quite a bit of throttle control available in corners with a turbo setup.

Would a manual boost controller for this kit be beneficial?
I am looking at this kit, with a BOV - getting it tuned for 91 and 94 octane. would I need a MBC? I am so new to forced induction it is not even funny.

Thanks everyone!

We are experimenting with a few things, so cannot post current figures just yet. We are still on a standard engine, and we drive it to, and from, the circuit(s).

Some of the magic of handling at the circuit explained:

We just recently finished up our front 21mm and rear 18mm swaybars for the BRZ/FR-S, and they were on the car at the time attack, along with our upcoming coilovers and 3" exhaust system, plus the AVO clutch, AVO fuel injectors and AVO fuel pump.

Our new swaybar upgrade worked very well with our latest coilovers with great turn in as you can see in the video, and with the rear under great control even with the big power. It's very well balanced for the circuit and the street - we drove the car to and back from the time attack event.
