8 laps is not that much with Japans ambient temps. It's 85+ F here being mid summer. I guess we will do a new radiator, fans and shrouding for my car if necessary as well as oil cooler.

The oil is pulled (not pushed) through the turbo into an oil reservoir tank, and then runs through quit a bit of tubing before it gets back into the engine. would it make sense to plumb in-line somewhere on the feed or return oil supply line (for the turbo) an oil cooler? Seems like the plumbing is already there but not sure if the diameter is at least AN8 and the pressure.
I would love that idea so no oil filter sandwich plate is needed.
I'm a supercharger guy and the fight against heat (at the track) always seems a bit more challenging than my turbo counterparts. Pros and cons because they sometimes overboost too- just to keep things partial..

I'm thinking with the way the turbo plumbing is done, the flow going through those lines may be a parallel circuit, not series... so it's not 100% of the flow. Oil cooler there wouldn't be as effective. I think a sandwich plate adapter is still probably the best option for performance benefit. Plus you'd want a thermostatic one for street use (which would yet again be difficult with the inline approach).

This is a really good question since the stock turbo is journal bearing. A ball bearing turbo that requires significantly less oiling could be a real benefit. Can something like a GT28RS be fitted easily on this kit?

The car has been at the track throughout the summer/fall/winter - and Tokyo hits 90+ F, plus has that pesky 90-100% humidity going for it as well. One of the reasons I decided to leave Japan after 15+ years there was the summer heat.

It can't really be a benefit. Remember the turbo is turning at really high speeds. With ball bearings you are just setting yourself up with an earlier failure in the bearings. So much heat will be generated, it isn't practical. Journal bearing is a better way to go.

Running a non-avo turbo could benefitial. And or some people may have turbos lying around that they may want to use instead of spending money to upgrade.

It's just as easy to end up with shaft play on a journal bearing turbo and need a rebuild. I switched from one to a GT turbo for exactly that reason when it came time to rebuild my old turbo. i've now had years of reliable service from my GT3076R and it spools faster too.
