I am sure you guys know this but octane at the pump is MINIMUM. That means that the 91 octane can be.....93. It just can't be 89 or 87. Also I can be at same brand gas station..different parts of the city and one will have 91 with ethanol(10%) or will have 91 without...or 92. Just saying.

3 forms of energy come out of the tail pipe. Heat, sound and pressure. The turbine uses the energy from the pressure and absorbs a lot of heat, so it would seem logical that the sound at the tail pipe would reflect those losses. |

@AVOturboworld From the pictures I see that the Air fuel ratio sensor is placed on the downpipe, right after the turbo. Will there be an extra bung welded for the people who want to run an additional wideband for an air fuel ratio gauge? I would hate to have to drill into my ceramic coated downpipe to weld a bung for an additional sensor. Or is drilling and welding on a ceramic coated pipe ok?

AVO world do you guys recommend doing the head gaskets with ARP hardware to go along with it at the time your doing install. I am just wondering if that is smart thing to do rather than blow a head gasket and over heat the engine after spending all that money and trn arond blow head gasket and have to start all over again

That's mostly correct, it depends on the design. Typically, tube headers will increase sound (marginally) do to the resonance of tubular piping VS cast manifolds. Same logic behind a straight exhaust being louder than a factory style exhaust with more bends, less obstructions for sound to be redirected and as a byproduct lose volume (typically) **Edit forgot to mention, not all "headers" are made from tubular designs, aftermarket cast manifolds and log style also taken into consideration. *Side note, I am really fucking bored at work today. I have decided working mandatory saturdays every 5 weeks is employment rape, just dont get dinner first. Last edited by dsmx17; 11-17-2012 at 09:31 AM. Reason: forgot to clarify my point |

MAP SENSOR
Where is located the MAP sensor on our car ?
Anybody have a picture to show us where it is. Which one of those 3 differents models our car use ( see pictures below ) : If we change the map sensor for a 2 or 3 BAR and use an electronic boost controller to raise the boost from 5-6 to 7-8 psi, Does the ECU will try to correct the AFR according to that ? Can we change the boost level via the ECU with ECUTEK instead to use an electronics boost controller ?

I prefer to set the boost level needed into the ecu and avoid the boost controller fees and installation. But now that we know that both ECUTEK and EBC can do the job ; Is there one better than the other to keep AFR safe on the spot ? For example : If Avo's base map with 5psi has been set to be at 12AFR at WOT, by raising the boost myself with 2 extra psi will change the AFR a bit to maybe 12.5 - 12.7 instead. Is that correct ?

Have AVO made an oil cooler kit? HKS and GReddy kits are a bit pricey at $1000US would be much more inclined to fit if a kit around the $500 mark was available

We are working on the further stages, but our priority is the stage 1 for manuals and automatics.
I believe they are working on an oil cooler idea in Japan, but I've not heard details yet, nor pricing. |
