This is from last weekend. Car was bone stock other than front crash bolts. I'm at 5500ft above sea level so if the car seems even slower than normal, thats why:

[ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qSKigm746uQ"]8-19-2012 RGRSCCA BRZ fun run - YouTube[/ame]

Overall my impression is that steady state really isn't bad but transitions seem to put this thing on its bumpstops immediately. Couple that with its ability to really transfer weight quickly and you can really pitch this thing into a drift without trying. Add to that the stock tires are just beyond the worst tire I can ever remember autocrossing on. Even 3000rpm launches at my altitude spin the tires a ways and a mild shift mid turn really upsets the car though I was sloppier than usual after driving the WRX all day. I still hate the brake pads. I ordered some Stoptech street performance pads and a Nameless Performance muffler delete from Stranoparts.com and should have fresh Star Specs before the next time I run it. Also I learned I need to lower the video camera a bit so the outside isn't so washed out. Dataacq was done with an AIM Solo and Dashware since I get asked this a lot.

Crash bolts, that does void any warranty right? Can the dealers can install them. Thanks!

It's in the factory repair manual so it shouldnt void any warranty on the car. The dealer would probably install them if they do alignments.

I know that a oil catch can is allowed under the rules for Stock class, but what about an oil/air separator (as in Crawford Performance's unit)

http://store.crawfordperformance.com/store/products/652

Pricey vs some OCC options out there, but is it class legal?

Why use one at all? I really don't think these cars have a major oil blow by problem.

If the rules don't say that you can, then you can NOT.

Crawford posted some pictures of a torn down engine with like 5K miles on it (not a failure, they tore it down for development) and the pistons showed a lot of black deposits on them which they attributed to PCV crap in the combustion chamber. AVO also maybe had some evidence of oil condensed in the throttle body when they removed the stock intake tube and put their silicone hose on.

http://store.crawfordperformance.com...ploads/800.jpg

So now everyone is racing out to buy catch cans. There are a few guys who have installed catch cans and have seen no oil in them even after track days, so it's not blowing oil like a turbo Subaru but PCVs do put crap back into the intake. The Crawford is an air/oil separator so it will condense the crap in the vapors as well.

The rule is:

"The installation of oil catch tanks is allowed provided the function of the PCV system is not altered." So as long as you are just plumbing things inline, then it's legal. You can't dump the outlet under the car. AOS would be legal as well, it does function as a catch tank, it just happens to drain back into the engine. Rule doesn't say anything about drains...

For those who didn't know:

13.10 ENGINE AND DRIVE TRAIN

G. The installation of water expansion tanks is allowed. The installation
of oil catch tanks is allowed provided the function of the PCV system
is not altered.

It appears the BRZ version of the Crawford AOS keeps the PCV valve, I'm pretty sure the WRX/STi one blocks it off.

Thanks guys! So it appears legal, since its a closed system and allows for the PCV system to function (Smog legal too, according to Crawford).

Could a wheel with a 40mm offset be machined to 42mm, allowing it to be run in stock categories?

Yes this has been done. However be careful, not all wheels can have this done without seriously compromising it's construction beyond safe limits.

I would imagine that machining 2mm from the hub area could lead to either too thin of a mounting surface or a wobbly wheel. Is there anything else I should consider before buying a set of wheels and having them machined?
