George, I have a Hotchkis bar in as a temporary solution until Sam's is ready. If you want, you can give mine a try anytime (Id say this weekend if you were coming to Sebring ). It's slightly softer on its current setting than Sam's but I wanted something to help with the camber challenged car.

FYI: from my understanding, that bar is more then 2x stiffer then Sams bar even in the soft setting. No way it is softer...

The percentages are lower on the soft setting from what I read. Maybe I read it differently?

It says 170% (which is actually 70% due to the way swaybar manufacturers tend to advertise, read Sam's website). Sam's is 185% (true 85%) I believe

The Hotchkis 25mm is rated at 170% stiffer than stock, the Strano bar is roughly 85%. Both use increase over stock and not the 100%+ increase like the JDM vendors seem to do.

The Hotchkis would be 270% vs 185% for the Strano, its a big bar.

Oh really? I didn't realize that. Is this for sure? I was so used to everyone else's ratings. I still plan on getting Strano's then selling the Hotchkis, got it as a temporary.

Just to double check I looked at some of the other bars Hotchkis sells like the WRX rear bar and they list the rates as like "87%, 115%, etc." so they definitely do not add the 100% like Cusco, Tanabe, and others do. Just using logic, a 25.4mm hollow bar is going to be stiffer than a 22mm hollow bar.

Well damn. We'll see how it does this weekend. I like the way it changed the response in street driving. I have still been able to oversteer a bit so hopefully it's not TOO damn stiff!

Im pretty sure that the Strano bar is 185% vs stock. I remember Sam explained that he didn't like some the industry terminology about sway bar rates and this chose to rate the bar as 85% stiffer than stock, vs x1.85 or 185% of stock. Ironic that his efforts to use clearer terminology led to this confusion...

So on the softer setting the Hotchkis bar would be softer or about the same as the Strano bar...(big assumption!!).

What DXW said is correct, it is 1.85x for the Strano bar hotchkis is 2.70x. Hotchkis advertises 500 ft/lbs for their soft setting. There is no way the stock bar is the better part of 300 lbs/in. The hotchkis bar is not softer than the Strano part.

I know, I dont except street to give me an indication of performance.

It was a last minute decision to go to that bar as a temporary one. Going to stagger pressure to try to neutralize it. Who knows, it may work well

Never autocrossed out there before (just track days). What makes their layout good for a understeer setup?

Had a chance to check out my grinding noise this morning. I took a good look, loaded the suspension and turned the wheels and nothing. I did kind of bend back the brake shield on the side making noise. In the end after dorking around with it for an hour I didn't have anything conclusive. Took the car back out and beat on it, no more noise... I guess I fixed it. .

I did the same parking lot tests I did with the Whiteline bar on its two settings and the Strano bar seems not quite as stiff as the Whiteline on its "21mm" setting. My parking lot test is a mock slalom, stock tires. Both bars mad the car feel a lot more stable than stock. I'm at like 1/16" total toe in.
