Seeing as how the ptuning turbo system is designed to be used without replacing the factory header, I would say their race header follows the same path as the stock header.

Yes, our header will work on an NA application.

Will the header fit with the factory front heat shield like you previously mentioned in this thread?

Our header will clear the factory lower metal tray cover without any modifications to the tray or use of spacers.

Here are some teaser pics of our finalized prototype PTUNING 4-1 EL Race Header. Production on the header is already under way. Multiple fixtures are currently being made for the production of this header. Please ignore the multiple small sections used in this prototype as we were continuously tweaking the individual runner lengths. The production headers will utilize the fewest number of weld joints possible.

Here are a couple of design goals we had for our 4-1 Header:

- Clears factory metal undertray without modifications or spacers.

- No extremes upturns in the header at the front of the engine means less heat transmitted into the engine compartment.

- Closest to equal length runners as possible. We purposely made runners 1 and 4 shorter to compensate for the offset exhaust ports on the FA20 cylinder heads. This ensures that the overall runner length from the exhaust valves to the merge collector outlet are roughly the same length between all cylinders.

- Rotational firing order through the merge collector for optimum exhaust scavenging.

- Double-slip merge collector. This style merge collector is uber expensive to implement. It does away with flex joints, yet still allows for proper heat expansion on a boxer engine.

- Custom stainless spring retention system to allow for heat expansion at the collector (Not shown in pics).

- Full T304 Stainless Steel construction. This includes the CNC machined head flanges, V-band connection, and 2-bolt flange.

- As always, our products are 100% made in the USA using only premium grade Domestic stainless steel.

The header looks great, long awaited but great indeed. I figure since it's looking like FI is not happening for me this season that by next spring PT should by then finally have all their kit bits ie: header, lava oil cooler etc all available day one when a person wants to order. As much as I admire several other kits (actually just a few) when it comes to Turbo I really do like a lot of the details in this kit overall.

We're running 41mm primaries with a 60mm collector.

This header, when used with our PTUNING Turbo System will be slightly louder than the stock header at idle and cruising speeds. It will be moderately louder at WOT. It definitely sounds awesome when coupled with our 3" dual exhaust system.
