And I didn't have to adjust the cruise control sensor thing, it seemed perfect after I lowered the clutch pedal.

Is it possible to shorten too much to where the clutch won't fully disengage?

Just did this mod and want to make sure I don't burn my clutch... If it is even possible...

Thanks!

I assume it's possible as you're adjusting the grab point

After I did it yesterday, I drove this morning and it felt like the gear wasn't fully engaged when at WOT. As if the clutch wasn't fully disengaged...

I'm adjusting it now, just hoping I didn't do any clutch burning :-/

I've just heard to do it just slightly lower than brake pedal (or higher). I adjusted mine again to lower it just below brake pedal, I think that's where I'm gonna keep it, it seems fine.

^Plus, you'd smell the clutch burning I think.

I think this is probably psychological. As long as you didn't put it too low it shouldn't be a problem. Mine is about level with the brake and when I first drove it I was a bit paranoid. Keep an eye on your tach when you push in the clutch to make sure it's fully disengaged. Try switching between neutral and 1st at a stop light and see if the RPM change.

To tell if it's fully engaged when driving smell for burning clutch. You'll probably feel a slip at high RPM also. Or I suppose if you're really desperate you could do a 0-60 run, adjust the clutch, then do it again and compare the feeling

Did the adjustment this morning, 2nd day of owning the car. Definitely a big improvement, with this being my first MT. Getting down there is a b!#$h, and I had to do everything with one hand. As someone else mentioned, you might need another 14mm wrench to loosen the cruise control nuts, otherwise they just spin together along with the rod.

Also, I noticed the lubricated hinge part that connects the cam to the adjustment rod has some left/right slack to it. Is this normal?

Absolutely correct. The pin has plenty of clearance to move side-to-side.
I just adjusted my clutch and then went for a long drive.
The relatively simple job is well worth the effort. I highly recommend borrowing or buying "shorty" 12mm and 14mm wrenches to work in the confined space.
I found it easiest to loosen the locknut, pull the retaining pin and pivot pin and then rotate the fork to make my adjustment. Much easier for my big hands than attempting to hold and rotate a slippery master cylinder rod. Additionally, it was easier to make exactly two clockwise turns for the desired adjustment.

For those who are concerned about clutch damage ... please note that this adjustment reduces the distance between the friction and pressure plates when the pedal is depressed. If adjusted too far the clutch won't fully release. You'll feel the car try to creep forward when the clutch is fully depressed and you're in first gear.

You're golden as long as there's no drag when the clutch is depressed and you're in gear. Happy adjusting!

I did this a few days ago. Great write up! Took less than 5 minutes using my shorty 12/14 combo wrench, a ruler and nothing else. Clutch pedal is flush with the brake and it feels right now.

New member here and wanted to thank everyone in this thread for trying this and confirming it worked. In the 2 weeks of ownership, the only thing I didn't like was the clutch engagement. Took about 10 minutes of actual work and I couldn't be happier with how this turned out. Thanks again, and safe motoring to you all.

^Make sure you properly tightened the nut back on after the job. I just checked it today 1.5 weeks after I adjusted it, and it had come loose, probably from all the vibration and movement during driving.

Maybe I should take a look as well, I feel like the effect seems to be a bit muted since I first made the adjustment. Thought it might be in my head/getting more used to the lower grab but perhaps it's a bit loose - we'll see!
