You could have some uneven pad material build up on your rotors. That's the most likely cause anyway.

It's likely not going to be the pads themselves.

The problem is hardly ever the pads. Check the rotors. Dont just check from 10 feet away and be like "they look good enough". Get really close and look at the surface where the pad is touching. You might see very small cracks on the rotor, these will get worse over time and eventually your brake pedal will start to pulsate and should you choose to keep running them they will crack completly.

If the rotors are fine, you might have an alignement issue. Toe-ou in the front will create that "unstable" feeling during hard braking. Have you checked your alignment lately?

Probably a good time to upgrade. Do you set your parking brake in paddock?

I found the Hawk pads to be no good. After 7 or 8 laps on track they started fading. I switched to Powerstop Track Day pads. I'll test them out tomorrow. Got a track day at Willow Springs. Got some HPS 5.0 for sale cheap.

I had the car up on jack stand and check the pads and rotor after the track day, rotor was fine but there was uneven wear from the brake pads.

I will do another double check when i get a chance on the weekend.

and I just got my alignment about 3 months ago when I installed my RCE Yellow, it should be 0 toe in front.

Thanks

Shouldn't matter. It's a drum/shoe setup.

Did you check the rotors for flatness with a dial indicator?

Unfortunately no, do you think the rotor could be slightly warp?

Or it has uneven pad buildup on it.

I had pretty bad brake pulsation on my BRZ after several track days - I had read that warping was unlikely, it was much more likely uneven pad transfer. I took all the rotors off and sanded the he** out of them with garnet sandpaper such that there was no pad material on the rotors.

Pulsation still present.

Bought a runout gauge and found there was a fair amount of runout - can't remember the #'s, but it was out of spec - so either warped or thickness variation. I replaced the rotors and the pulsation went away, but came back after another 3 weekends. I've added some brake cooling to see if that keeps it from happening again.
