Dunno the rating of the F200, but Michelin slicks are rated at 200km in race condition. That's the manufacturer specification and not the actual maximum mileage the tire can do.

I can get 500 km out of a rear set of a048r on the Lotus (same rear weight and power as the 86) with an enjoyable pace.

Would you use 215 or 235mm wide slicks (race size, not road size) with a Jackson Racing supercharger ?
I can't try both because one need 8" wheel and the other 9". So I need to purchase the right size wheel.

I may try different road going track tires, but race slick are 1300-1500€ a set out there. I can't afford to burn them in less than 400km.

The goal is to drive track days and no actual races. The tire will obviously be competitive for something like 20-50km

The wheels gonna be 949 6ul provided by CSG

A big thanks

Edit : my driving style is nice on tires.
That depends... are we talking hot lapping sessions, sprint races, or endurance races?

Have you considered entry level R-compounds? Nitto NT01 or Maxxis RC1?

Both can take 20 minute sessions well, and usually last between 5-8 track days depending on the setup and driver.

They are sadly not available in Europe. We have easy access to a048r (but no a050r), r888 and r888r, and I just found a dealer for RS3.

If I search a lot, I might find Khumo v70 and Avon ZZR

We have access to the more street friendly ado8r and t1r too.

I just found Hoosier European prices. They are just plain stupid.

In that case, try the RS3 or AD08R. It's easier to go sticker, than to lose grip.

Not wrong, but there are some accessible exceptions like the Miata, RX-8, S2000, and others which have adjustable double wishbone/multilink setups from the factory where the cost of getting a sporty alignment does not include $100+ worth of hardware.

After all the bare barest minimum on the 86 is eccentric/undersized 'crash' bolts front and rear (<$50 part cost up to $80-$100 for name brand, maybe a half hour to a full hour+ billable install time, whether or not you do it yourself, I know I don't work for free). And really, you want a decent set of camber plates and LCA's so you're not second guessing your hardware which by my math really can't be done for less than $400, and the pretty stuff will put you up at $1k.

I love my 86 and had full intention on keeping it until it becomes a money pit, the problems are workable because the money and desire is there, Porsche makes struts work after all.

But Mazda showing new concept RX in 5 minutes...

My s2k required $700 in hardware, not including labor, to get a proper sporty alignment.

At the end of the day, all except the most super of supercars are tuned to behave predictably when the uninitiated driver exceeds the stability envelope of the vehicle. It is supposed to be difficult to move the handling characteristics in the direction of performance. If it was easy and cheap, even more idiots would be eating guard rails than are now.

I like my insurance rates as they are.

Yup eating my words a bit as I unearth the deeper stuff, gotta get past the 'noob your car doesn't need any hardware for adequate camber' because the average guy is happy to run in the -1 to -2 degree range (mx-5 and s2k). Maybe I'd be happy with that on the 86 for now, but I jumped from ~0 to -1 to over -3 so guess I'll never know.

Given how hard it is to convince some people that an alignment will net them more performance than a set of $800 ebay coilovers, I think you're overestimating how many "idiots" would take advantage of adjustable alignment hardware.

Lesson learned, pay to play. I'll keep saving up for those LCA's.

Haha doubtful. I'm at -1.5 deg and my tire wear is funky. The outer edge gets trashed first, then the outer edge of the center tread. All the tread blocks look slanted and I end up with > 2/32" variation across the tire.

The one saving grace is the factory square tire setup. You can "resurface" the tire by rotating it to the rear lol.

Don't worry - you made the right choice by jumping to the deep end first on camber.

Because these tires saw track time on all three up front because I am still wrapping my head around this 'rotation' thing I've got outer edge wear from not enough camber and inner edge wear from too much camber on the street, basically crowned it

But you're totally right, the rears have worn beautifully.

Stay low on the oval, then move up high to scrub speed and give yourself a wider turn before going into turn 1.
