P0351 code, how serious is this? Should I be worried? Can I do the second day of track event? Does this lead to DI seal issues or is it unrelated?

You don't crush the brake pedal during daily driving, so your technique will be slightly different. Sit still, put it in neutral, 100% brake like you would on a track, and figure out the best way to blip the throttle.

It's a bad ignition coil. It happens to tracked cars occasionally because it overheats. Read more about it here. As far as continuing to track it, I really wouldn't, but I'll leave that up to the track junkies to make the call. I know @ATL BRZ has been plagued by these things, and has resorted to bringing an extra coil or two with him to the track. It's a quick swap, and it's a shitty thing to have ruin your track plans.

That's exactly the problem, IMO the brake ends up too low vs the throttle and I keep releasing pressure off the brake by accident when I'm done blipping the throttle. If I'm not 100% on the brakes I'm fine, even up to 90% and I can keep it smooth. Guess I just need a lot more practice

you may need to put some new fluid in to get rid of the mushy pedal. i recommend project mu as it makes flushing so easy with the green color and turning clear when its bad.

Not a bad idea. Might go with SS brake lines as well since it made a noticeable difference on my GTI. I know on my GTI a lot of the pedal feel was dependent on the pads. The street pads made the pedal feel like mush but as soon as I dropped my track pads in the pedal was easily firmer. Hmm.

I don't want to blame the car and I'd love to improve my technique

Yep, as another has mentioned it's an ignition coil problem.

My dealer just cleared the code but next time on track it happened again so I ignored it. After a bit of rest and a few starts the CEL disappeared.

But, when it came on again I told dealer and they replaced the ignition coil under warranty even though I was using car on track.

Replace the coil pack for cylinder 1. Swap with another cylinder in a pinch (cyl 4 is easiest)

I literally heel-toe with my toe on the brake and heel on the pedal.

There's no "wrong" way. Some guys pivot their foot, others use the sides.

1 and 3 are on the left (passenger) 2 and 4 and on the right (driver)?

I'ts an $80 part I'll probably just buy than waste hours at the dealer.

You can find them for $80 on line but the part itself has already seen 2 revisions. Part # ending in 650...651.....now 652

Anyone's guess as to what was changed but I just ordered 2 and got 650's. I wrapped the stem and box with heat tape just as a precaution as it seems #1 fails most often and is located closest to the header collector which is unshielded on my car.

Mine started acting up at the track in August on Saturday morning, car would misfire at higher revs and the Track Off setting started allowing violent intervention in high G's. I parked it for the rest of the weekend.

Front passenger = 1, rear driver = 4.
