The couple of times I've driven a neutral car were a lot of fun, but I kept getting caught out by trailing throttle oversteer. I may not be the best driver. You learn fast though!

What Mike is specifically referring to is when you're at the limit of adhesion and the tires are considering stepping out on you. If you jump on the throttle, you break traction and go for a spin. If you let off the throttle, you regain traction but the car loses speed. If you're very delicate and smooth with the throttle, you can edge just past the limit and barely start to slip. Your tires still have enough traction to put power down, but they're also protesting loudly and have lost enough traction that the car has only just started to rotate. At this point you're steering with the throttle. A little more throttle, you lose a little more traction, the rear end steps out a little more, and you go wider. A little less throttle, the tires regain a little traction, the rear end comes back into line, weight transfers forward, and you tuck into the corner. At this point, steering input is almost less important than throttle input. Your steering wheel has set the line you want, and your throttle adjusts your position on that line.

You can feel this when you take long curving on-ramps, with larger throttle inputs. Let off the throttle, weight rolls forward, there's more weight on the front (turned) wheels, and you take the corner tighter. Roll on the throttle, and you'll swing out wider. It's an interesting thing to get the feel of.
This is exactly how I was taught to corner. When I hit the stripes on corner exit by using throttle, I got praise. Corner 2 at Thunderhill was great for this.

Throttle steer? You need a near-neutral car to do it. You literally... press on the gas more until your car starts rotating mid corner, and you control that rotation with the gas pedal.

Having an aftermarket LSD makes this throttle steer window substantially larger.
Thanx - that makes more sense.

Again thanx, will try slightly tail happy on Monday.. and more front grip as well.

Could be. I am thinking of getting the crash bolts and some front camber for my first track outing and then the shop can check the alignment. Wear was consistent across all tires, and the car tracks straight. I do live on a canyon road.

We have a lot of near hair pins an roughly 120 degree turns in Gresham. I've noticed myself feathering the throttle after the apex making my car turn with minimal counter steer but the tires are braking looses and re gripping as I throttle. It seems to be cutting down my times on back roads. I can't call it drifting at all cause I never kick it out much but it's constantly fighting between rear slide and rear grip. Is this throttle steer? I literally hardley have to adjust the wheel at all, it's all In my gas pedal. Or is it time for new tires? Lol

If you go to a track day and it rains, how do you stay dry in the paddock? What rain gear to bring

Shoes for sure! Nothing worse then having slippery shoes when trying to push the limits. I always bring a good wind braker and umbrella or collapsible overhang.

It's technically something in between a throttle steer and power-over. You're power-overing, and then maintaining rotation with throttle modulation.

You're actually borderline drifting...

This sounds ghetto, but I take a ton of trash bags to put everything in.

If it's going to be raining, I pack light.

CEREBRUS

Did a full day at Mosport Gran Prix track today. Front tires one or two pounds less than the rear.

Didn't bother trying anything else. 150 KM/H (90 MPH) smoothly around corners, full control with easy throttle steering, minimal squeal, NO oversteer NO understeer.
When behind them, I kept pace with GTR, Supercharged Lotus Elise, etc. on corners.

Good enough for me.

How fast at turn-in to T4, and what did you do with the throttle between turn-in and the apex?
