Shouldn't be watching a vid at work, but I will check it out at home.

great write up as ive been looking for some solid methods to washing my 86

one question however - do you have any suggestions for proper care of the towels used during the wash? afterwards theyre all dirty and need to be cleaned, but i was curious what the best way to go about it would be?

:happy0180: thanks for all the tips, now i cant wait to go wash it this weekend

Ordered some ONR this week and used it for the first time today. Feeling the grit with the towel was a little disconcerting(using the one bucket method), but wow, does it work great and much cheaper than the HD waterless products. Can't wait to wash my car again.

Thanks for the awesome post. I'm in the process of collecting all these items now. I had one wash so far and it wasn't exactly easy using the remainders of an old Armorall car care kit I have.....

Is this the glass cleaner you recommend?

http://www.amazon.com/Clear-Dual-Action-Glass-Cleaner-Repellant/dp/B008OHG8R0/ref=pd_ybh_10

If so it's a really good deal right now.

I like Optimum Opti-seal for a sealant.

Waxes... I use Poorboy's Natty on lighter colored cars, Natty Blue on darker cars.
Supernatural on my own car (as its a bit spendy)

Collinites makes a good long lasting wax as well

That is indeed what I'd recommend
If you wish to make it last very long... Use it on the OUTSIDE only (as you don't need it's beading power on the inside of your glass). Use something like Eagle1 glass cleaner on the inside.

That is of course if you wish to get kinda fancy. I do it as I've detailed cars professionally before so I have the supplies, might be overkill for people tho.

And yes, AWESOME DEAL!! Autogeek sells that stuff for $15 a bottle

I should get some ONR and some sealed lids for my buckets.. I have a method using Meguiar's Wash&Wax Anywhere which comes out to about $4 per wash. The added water of ONR would be nice for times when the dirt is really bad on the car.

Thanks for the info Seven. Although you mention rinsing not needed, I'd rather rinse what dust/dirt is on before washing. Any problems with having water on the car using your methods?

I don't see any issues so long as it's clean water

Not sure how to 'thank' the post directly, so... thanks Gathering the stuff I need this weekend.

Will this deal with really bad bug splatter, or should I address that first?
