Valenti Reverse Light Installation Issues
So, I'm probably some kind of idiot, but I can't seem to remove the stock reverse light. Mostly the part of getting it out of the housing. I removed the bolts on top and the clips on the side, there just doesn't seem to be a big enough hole to actually get the light out (the muffler is in the way).
I'm sure there is some sort of way to do it, I just can't seem to figure it out myself. Help would be much appreciated.

Release the lower bumper clips that secure the lower part of the bumper to the car. I cant remember how many there are, 5 or 6. They are plastic clips come out easily. Then you can pull down the lower part of the bumper and have room to work. It gives without problem, dont have to pull hard. There is a clip in the center of the backup light that is hanging you up. Its on top I recall. You can see where your new one has the spot for that clip. I broke the stock one getting it off. Oh well, was not planning on reusing it.

Are these the clips that are on the bottom, near the wheel wells? And I thought I broke the clip on the light, but it was just fine.

This was a bit of a pain for me as well (worse because I have the diffuser). Right in the middle of the underside of the bumper kind of comes in at a point where there's a bit more clearance then anywhere else along there. You should be able to, using a bit of force but not too much, to push/warp the bumper away from the muffler and get just enough space to get the reverse light out by feeding it through that space length-wise. Does that make sense?
If you have the diffuser, it's a lot easier if you remove that first, if you can (I couldn't). The good news is, once you get the old one out, the new one is a lot thinner and will fit through the space without any issues. I can try and take a picture of the space i'm referring to if I'm explaining this terribly.

They are the round pins holding the lower bumper to some plastic brackets. Just look at the bumper edges where you are working and you see them. They just pry out with a screwdriver. Same type of pins that are used for securing the the front bumper underneath the car.

Got it!! Thank you Wizardhat and Pwolf, your suggestions helped a lot. I removed just two of the clips on the bottom, and it freed up enough space to slide the old light out, and the new one in.
And nphillip, I watched that video, it's how I got around to getting it unbolted from the car, but in their video, they have the muffler removed. That was waay to much work to just put in the taillight, thank's for the suggestion though!

I have the Valenti reverse light thing and Tom's tails.
The instructions from Modbargains says light blue wir to dark blue wire from OEM tail harness, but my harness has red/black light green and yellow(?) where does the light blue wire splice into???

I just spoke to a local BRZ owner with the Valenti reverse light and he gave me this advice for the basic wiring to get the red portions lighting up with running lights, etc.
"Valenti light blue [wire] tapped to red wire in [OEM] tails harness. Valenti red [wire] tapped to light green wire in [OEM] tails harness. That should give you the basic functionality" Thanks, @Simon99

If anyone can figure a way so that the triangle flashes during daytime (i.e. without the parking lights being on) I would be grateful ! But the way I've come to understand it is that the small red wire from the Valenti is just a trigger that makes the triangle flash when the brakes are depressed AS LONG as current is already sent to thr triangle from the Valenti light blue wire..
