Car dies after 15-20 minutes?
Well, I just got my car turbo'd(installed myself with the instructions i got emailed), with the FBM base kit with the GT2871 and their base map tune..
Problem is when the car runs till its warmed all the way up and runs for about 20+ minutes after it dies.. and when i try to start it back up it has a rough time, starts up after 2-3 times but than when i give it gas it chokes and starts dying. if i don't give it gas it idles fine, but dies after 10 minutes again. if i give it gas it chokes and starts dying.. what can it be ?!? also no codes beside P0441 is thrown and traction control light is on |

Sounds like you should keep trying to start it over and over again. It should eventually pull through!

Unfortunately, instead of being helpful the guy you quoted decided sarcasm was the best choice for a response. While it was funny for the majority of readers, it obviously isn't very helpful to you.
My suggestion would be to get it tuned as a base tune isn't intended to be run daily. Sure its supposed to be safe, but obviously you are having issues with it. Get it tuned and your problems should be fixed. |

And/or have a professional install/tuner shop handle it all next time. Mostly so you don't brick your fa20 like so many people have before you. Don't be cheap and do it right the first time.

Need a new tune. Search HRI tuning on Facebook which is the best tuner for this platform, specially regarding the most important part, drivability.

vacuum leak? just throwing a suggestion out there some of the rubber hoses in the vacuum system seems to be a small but annoying problem with boosted 86's. dont remember which ones but a quick search on the forums might help

I believe that it's the hoses underneath the intake manifold that seem to fly off under high boost. Usually it's not a sudden problem though. I know when I took off one of my vacuum lines it's very noticeable. Usually the engine struggles to run even at idle.

Check all hoses and ones on evap canister, check fuel cap is tight, clear the code and see if it returns. you should not be driving on a "base map" they are just to get the car going or drive it a short distance at low rpm to tuner for proper tune. |

Update, the car started fine this morning on a cold engine. but when you turn on ignition "on" I didn't hear the fuel pump or anything go. but I don't see how that would make the car choke & die when I give it gas..

Sounds like you got the fuel pump install wrong or a bad fuel pump.
There's a number of O-rings that need to be stacked correctly, and the fuel lines inside the canister can get crimped if the assembly isn't put together juuuust right. The fuel pump that came with my FB kit also would stop working intermittently, like you are describing how your car runs. Sometimes it would start and run fine, then 10-15 minutes in it would die. After a while, it would then work again. Switched to a different fuel pump (DW) and all is good now. Check your fuel pump, check your fuel pressure. |
