what does the rpm shift indicator beep sound like?
it would be awesome if it sounded like the old school chime in initial d

Nope, sorry.
 It's just a quick beep-beep-beep when you cross the rpm you have it set to. I wish it were louder like the one in my STI cluster, but oh well. At least we get one.

Is there really a beep? I never noticed, maybe because I'm so focused on shifting? Though I've only seen the light 3-4 times.

Yeah, it's more of a "pulse" than a beep. If you have the radio going you might miss it.
