Rpm drop at idle

Just got my frs last week it's a 2013 with 44xxxkms it has an injen intake. I was going through the service records and it had thrown a check engine code. Toyota said it was because of the intake. Car runs great with no issues, except when I stop occasionally the rpm will drop to around 500rpm then bounce back up. Would the intake be the culprit?

My car is headed in next week to get an ecutek tune. So if the intake is the problem we can fix it with tuning. I'm not 100% familiar with boxer motors just don't want it to end up being something should get warrantied before I void the warranty

See: TSB # S-SB-0040-13

Its the second sticky at the top of this very sub-forum.

Your Injen Intake will not cause any idle issues. The code was most likely a MAF sensor code from the car running too lean, or the installer forgetting to plug in the sensor after install.

The idle is 600, and RPM drops to 500 momentarily when the AC compressor kicks in.

It should be. I don't know for sure though.

If you're getting an ECUTek tune, I wouldn't even worry about going to the dealer to get it fixed. AFAIK, the only fix they perform is an ECU reflash.

My 2013 is stock and has done that from day one. During quick stops the RPMs will drop from 700 to 550 as I come to the stop , but then quickly go up to 700 (but never stalls)

Same on my 2015 BRZ MT. I'm fairly sure that's normal behavior on many cars, as that's also the case on my 2000 Camry.

pick up an OFT and flash the car...problem solved without going to the dealer and having them mess something up more

The car runs SO much smoother after oft, even if I didn't have mods I would still flash one of the base tunes just to get injector seal fix, idle and others...

Not for the compressor related drop there isn't. Just nature of the beast with any smaller displacement engine and AC not a problem.

But it's not like it only drops when compressor kick-in thou. It just goes on and off nonstop + My other 4cylinder (RAV4 & CRV) car don't do this.

But I know it's probably just how it is, just worried.
