Getting things to stick to the interior dash
Anyone had any luck with getting anything to stick for long periods of time on the interior dash pieces or pillars? Any 3m tape I use doesn't seem to stay on for long after it sits in the heat for a while.

Interesting question, I was just considering using some velcro on the dash, to hold my phone. Looking forward to input.

When the instrument panel is molded, top part that's soft, there is usually some oils or contamination that gets on it. Try using some IPA (rubbing alcohol) to clean the small spot you plan on sticking anything. Be careful not to get it on other areas because it might change the color slightly.
If not, get this. Its awesome. Rotates and fits perfect in our FRS because of radio location. [ame="http://www.amazon.ca/Mountek-nGroove-Universal-Phones-Devices/dp/B004G1L52Q"]Mountek nGroove Grip Universal CD Slot Car Mount for Cell Phones and GPS Devices: Amazon.ca: Electronics[/ame] |

Vinyl is a bit of a pain to stick stuff to. If you want it permanent, it's relatively easy, but something that is removable later is harder. The texture of the dash doesn't help either (and it's probably the issue you're having with the pillar).
Oh, and you shouldn't have ANYTHING attached to the pillar or the top of the passenger side dash as there's airbags there. |
