Need Major Advise 18x8.5 + 40 offset

I am looking into purchasing some wheels, I already tried the fitment calculator but I had no success trying to find the fitment I am posting about. The rims are 18x8.5 with a + 40 offset . Lug Pattern is 5x114 and the tires would be 225/40/18 . Does anyone know if this will fit correctly? Also I plan on getting a Sportline 1.4" drop in the future with these rims.

Thank you in advance.

To fit 5x114 you'll need an adapter. A number of vendors produce them; it's basically a bolt-on 15mm spacer with new studs in the larger size. It'll change your effective offset from +40 to +25, so keep that in mind when you're looking at the wheel fitment guide.

The linked thread says that an 18x8.5 +25 will stick out a lot in the front and a little in back. That may not be your best choice in wheels.

So I guess these are not a good fit? I am still new to rim sizing so wouldnt +25 offset pop out less than +40?

A lower offset will poke out more. 18x8.5 +40 would be a great wheel size for you if you didn't need the 5x114.3 adapter. That's what kills it. Is it possible to find those wheels in a 5x100?

My front is a 18x8.5 +42 and it fits great, looks really good. +40 would be good too.

find the wheel in 5x100 or find another wheel that has a similar look. Which wheel are you looking at?

Thank you people for the advise, I guess I will have to wait until I find another deal on rims due to the lug pattern. I found these used locally online and was going to jump on the buy but the lug pattern will not be a direct fit so I will wait for something else to come around.

Thank you to all ; )

18x8.5 +40 will work good on a stock FRS body but since the lug pattern is 5x114.3 you'll have to run a 15mm adapter which will result in +25 offset.

We are carrying some wheels that are 5x100 and the fitment is 18x9.5 +38 which works perfect on a stock FRS/BRZ body will also fit on stock or lowered FRS/BRZ suspension.

Check them out here:

Just did some math with that calculator and it looks like your 18x8.5 +40 with a 15mm adapter (actual offset will be 18x8.5 +25) will sit in the same outer position as the Ambit Wheel RS18 18x9.5 +38 we carry.

Circuit Sport 5x100 to 5x114.3 Adapter/Spacer (15mm)

We carry Circuit Sports 15mm 5x100 to 5x114.3 adapters. Many customer have ran these on their cars and have had great results

Yeah, it's backwards to what we would normally think when we first encounter this stuff. Bottom line is what gramicci said:

Smaller Offset Value (including negative numbers) = Wheel Further Away from the Hub / Sticks Out More

This might be helpful: https://www.rsracing.com/tech-wheel.html#wheeltrm
