Clear bra and Opticoat Pro HELP/Advice

Hey guys!

I just bought a 2015 CWP BRZ limited and i have been thinking about getting Opticoat and Clear bra

First i am very anal about keeping her in great condition, i didn't let the dealership even take off the stickers on the car when it got off the truck. no wash, not even take off the interior wrapping. She is always garaged and only out in the sun 4 days a week while I'm at work.

Now, 3 weeks later I'm thinking about getting Opticoat Pro and "Nano Fusion PPF" clear bra. Pretty much I'm gonna get this done at a place that is 5 star rated, 400 reviews from yelp that also put on my tint the first week i bought the car. These guys are real nice and are constantly working on high end cars, i saw lambs, ferraris, range rovers, porsche, etc... there when i visited.

Pretty much the clear bra will come out to 350 pre tax which will just be for the front bumper, headlights and like four inches of the hood, and to opti coat the rest of the car would be about 750 including prep/correction (which shouldn't be much she's brand new and i wash her myself using the two bucket system with the right equipment) The clear bra has a lifetime warranty and the optic oat has a 5 year warranty i believe.

What do you guys think? are both services worth it? should i just get the clear bra and not the optic oat? from my understanding the optic oat makes it so you don't have to ever wax your car, just wash it like you normally would and it will always looked like its waxed. is this true?

I was debating spending the money on doing this, or just going in once a year for a full detail for about 130 bucks, it was recommended that i go in twice a year for the 130 detail service, which if i did the optic oat would pay for itself in 2-3 years. so basically I'm debating between optic oat (if it is what i described earlier) or just going in and getting it waxed annually (should ig et it clay barred and full detail twice a year? or is once a year fine). What do you guys think?


PS. im not even sure i will be keeping this car forever, if the next generation brz has forced induction or the different engine in it with more power, or if i decide to buy a more "grown up" car in 5-7 years, i want to minimize how much money i lose, so would optic oat and clear bra be a big selling point? keep in mind I'm not planning on getting rid of her, but just exploring situations if i had to. i persoanlly wish i went the whole opti coat/ clear bra from the get go, it deff will help in the long wrong,
my front bumper has seen better days and the car isnt even a year old yet


you will deff enjoy the piece of mind, deff worth the money IMO, i wont be so cheap next time and do it right from the start!

Do you know much about the opticoat? I mean does it make your car look waxed year round and you don't have to wax and clay bar like you would if you didn't have opticoat? I talked to the installer and he said pretty muh you just gotta wash it normally and it will look like it's always waxed

Forget the opticoat and put that money toward more PPF and paint correction. Don't do a partial hood, do complete sections if you can. The other half of the hood will get beat up and you will have a PPF line that collects dirt running across the hood.

I've heard mixed results about Opticoat and decided against it myself. Seems to only last 2, maybe 3 years or so and changes the color of the car. Not necessarily better, just different depending on your color. Plus it still stains with the most basic bird and bug goop you get everyday anyway.

I mean why pay $500-$750 every 3-5 years when you can just wrap the whole car with a lifetime warranty?

yea thats what i was thinking..did you mean to get the fusion bra on the entire car? i think he said to do that is like 1800 bucks.

I would do as much as you can afford. I'd run a couple coats of sealant glaze over what you can't. Should give you 2-6 months of protection on the less exposed areas depending on which and how you use the car. I figure I hand wash my car anyway so no big deal.

I second this on the whole hood, I hate looking at the line. Will get the whole hood redone soon.

Not sure how how long I would keep the car myself, I opted on the clear bra and plan on having the car color corrected for swirls once every two years or so. Despite what you hear, the factory clear coat is thick enough to be polished more than you think. Opticoat may reduce swirling, but still prone to scratches and chips. Since 1/3 of the car will be covered with PPF, there wasn't really a desire for me to opticoat the whole car, considering the front end is where you will get all the damage from daily driving. I recently noticed a paint chip that went trhough my clear bra from freeway debris, I imagine it helped reduce the damage but still nothing opticoat would have prevented. There are still vulnerable areas like the sides and top of the car, but there's a point when you have to accept small chips to happen no matter how cautious you are.

After a routine color correction, your car will look great for a while as long as you follow a proper washing technique and most importantly, wax.

Opti-Coat is a semi-permanent coating that helps protect painted surfaces. It will not prevent scratches and damage but can assist in avoiding them. It will still require good washing techniques and avoiding dealer washes and automatic car washes. If it gets scratched it will require polishing off and re-application.

Here's my BRZ opti-coated and how it's completed as well as how it looks once complete.

It works very well overall, I would get PPF on the front bumper if you plan on keeping the car more than 5 years or if you drive on the interstate and relatively high speeds often. Especially if there are an abundance of trucks and such that kick rocks up.

+3 on whole hood. I have half done and though many people don't notice the line I sure do. Front bumper is the best money you can spend if you have lots of bugs around. I have had the front almost black after a long highway run in the morning and most rinse right off. Hate to even think what paint would look like now without the bra!

Wait how much is the paint correction step?

Opti-Coat and paint correction for 750?

CQuartz and paint correction for 500?

For CQuartz check here, is it CQuartz Finest or just traditional

A paint correction and coating on this size vehicle should run between 500-800 depending on the area and detailer. But that price difference seems a bit extreme.

As for the differences some say CQuartz offers a better shine but Opti-Coat offers better protection. In reality, taking appropriate care of your car and doing proper washes will avoid instilling scratches and swirls and is paramount, but if you skip out on this and go to an automated car wash it will still scratch.

yes both have paint correction included, and for the clear bra they will do the touch up paint and all corrections before application. yes they are an approved dealer

X4 on doing entire hood, i did the half hood on my last car and hated it.
