This is what I got for 900km so far

Some kind of a truck strap was in the middle of the road in highway. I tried to avoid it but my rear driver side tire got caught.

Wheel and tire warranty ftw. Can't beat it for 20 bucks a month.

How many tires do you go through a year that are damaged for $20/month to be worth it? I've never in 15 years of driving had to replace a tire from damage and I go through lots of tires. I've had a grand total of 2 leaks from nails neither of which were not fixable.

Considering how cheap our tire size is, unless you live somewhere where people throw boxes of nails and spikes in the road for fun, it wouldn't seem financially smart to pay that much. (hell high end summer max performance tires are $109-140 in stock size)

Ouch. That wheel damage looks bad.

I agree, $20/month tire and wheel warranty seems hardly worth it. That's $240 a year, which is the cost of 2 tires. You could probably easily buy a used wheel and tire for $240. A typical driver might see a flat tire every 5 years. That's $1200 in insurance to fix one tire.

Might see a flat every 5 years? Is there NO construction that happens in your area? I guess it's unheard of that my family(3 seperate cars mind you) had a flat tire on each vehicle in a 1 week period(all of which work and drive a completely different route every day).

As for the tires being cheap...160 for new tire, typically 10 to mount/balance and puts you at half of the cost alone. Plus if you have rim damage like OP. Your buying a rim. Can you buy used? Sure...let's say you pick up a used rim for 80, and buy your new tire for it. Your now at...240 dollars. You broke even with the warranty, and have a used rim with a new tire.

I'll happily pay 20 dollars a month, and know if I go through two tires a year, I have my complete money's worth.

UGH ..... nasty break .....

I reckon the rim will grind down and balance out.

Maybe you can get a lightly used OEM tire from a member that has swapped them out.

I've heard of tire warranty but never a wheel warranty. My local chain tire shop charges 20 dollars per tire for a road hazard warranty for the LIFE of the tire before 2/32nds.

So that's 80 dollar insurance for a tire that costs 150+ dollars.

So basically use it once and you break even and profit a little.

That's just it though - if you consistently go through two tires in one year you just have bad luck and yeah, you need insurance!

I'm at a year and a half so I've saved enough to buy a new tire outright if I need to. It is luck of the draw I guess.

Now the OPs rim is a whole other ball of wax - that definitely sucks.

the tire and wheel is from Toyota themselves. lasts the same length of the normal warranty

In 17 years of driving I have never had a flat tire that necessitated replacement of the tire. 17 years x 12 months x $20 is $4080. In that time I've owned 18 vehicles (cars, trucks, motorcycles, mountain and road bikes) that use pneumatic tires. And I've lived in 5 different places with varying amounts of construction and road hazards. Those are pretty friggin' good odds.

The thing you're not thinking about is yes, used rim and new tire and you break even whether or not you have the warranty - but with the warranty you then have to turn around and pay the warranty again! So one month out you're not broken even again. So unless you're destroying tires once a year you're losing money. You're much better off putting that same amount of money in a savings account. Even at 0.1% interest you're making money. Unless you drive something where a single tire costs $500 or something ridiculous like that. And since you're posting on the FR-S forum I'm fairly confident that you don't.
