Made the move! 2015 Subaru WRX Sport Tech

Ordered a 2015 WRX Sport Tech (loaded Canadian model) 6 spd today. Trading in the 2011 WRX Ltd. hatch.

Gonna have 2 cars with FA engines, one with a "T" ! At this rate the FR-S is gonna rack very little mileage.

Need to confrm color today or tomorrow. Leaning toward Ice Silver Metallic. Will need adaptors to put my BRZ winter wheels on as they switched to 5/116. Never done that before. Hope it doesn't add much unsprung weight.

You'll love it. The new gen of WRX handles WAY better (though with way numb-er steering) and spool way better than the previous gen.

Be warned, though, you WILL want to get shifter bushings right away even if it comes with factory short shifter (get that if available). Factory bushings compared to the factory shifter in the 86's or even the 5spd wrx's is just squishy as hell.

I've heard perrin already has shifter bushings for the new wrx's, so go ahead and order some. You'll thank yourself later.

The demo was an auto but I did sort of hope the shifts would be as precise as the FR-S. Will form an opinion when my car eventually arrives. I plan to stay as close to stock as possible for now. From the reviews I have read there have been no complaints about the shifting. It isn't an identical tranny so I expect it wont feel identical.

The 2015 wrx is the new model. It has 2 version: a cvt with paddle shifters, and a 6spd manual.

The GR and GD chassis WRXs were 5spd manual only.

I was referencing a previous thread about number steering, sorry. I got you confused with Captain Snooze. I'll see myself out.

I test drove the new WRX with the manual. I've also owned a GR chassis WRX and a GR chassis STI (kept the WRX bone stock except for sound system). The new WRX's manual shifter feels like utter mush. The bushings are as compliant as a fat woman's tush (cushion for the pushin'), and you feel it. You basically have to firmly drive the shifter into gear for every gear. Nothing like the tossing of the shifter in the FR-S/BRZ, where it drops into the gate very well even stock.

BUT, put new shifter bushings in and it'll tighten up the feel really nicely. It's hardly a mod that removes it from "stock". It's about as significant (mod-wise) as changing the headunit.

Maybe a possible DIY project at some point then. Wont tell the wife about the fat ass analogy LOL

Thanks for the advice.

Just don't compare it to her ass and you should be safe... until you put in better bushings and comment on how much tighter it makes the shifting
