Reverse lights always on with new LED bar

I just installed this baby and I just can't figure out why the reverse lights stay on constantly.
I am by no means a pro DIYer so, please, bear with me.

Actually, what's more puzzling to me is why the stock reverse lights DON'T stay on all the time...
Using a volt meter on the stock setup here's what I saw:

• whether I engage the reverse or not.: ~10 volts at the harness (in the trunk, where it then goes out to the 2 reverse light bulbs)
• with reverse engaged: ~10 volts at the light socket
• without reverse engaged: nothing at the light socket

Unless I'm missing something, I don't see any kind of device between the harness and the bulbs that could possibly figure out that the reverse gear is engaged or not...

Now, after installing the new light bar, I'm seeing the following symptoms:

• reverse lights always on
• my gear indicator (I have 6MT) shows "R" steady

Any insight appreciated.

So maybe my car is worse than others when it comes to using LEDs and the fact that low current is sometimes enough to light them up (I also have a hyper blinking issue with some Spyder 2 tail lights).

Is there a "cure all" solution to this problem or should I sprinkle resistors all over the damn grid?
