Dark Souls? DARK SOULS!

Any Dark Souls/From Software fans in here? Wanna nerd out on character builds, items, etc.? Post pics of your Armored Core mech? Trade gamertags?

I just beat Dark Souls 2 () with a warrior and am currently playing through Dark Souls with a cleric.

I'm waiting for the PC version.

But I'm not buying on launch day. Going to wait until the prices drops significantly. Have other things to keep me occupied anyways.

Waiting for the PC version myself. Not sure why they released it on two old platforms and not the new generation consoles.... PC is going to stomp those versions though.

It's definitely a new learning curve coming from Diablo3, but it gets really fun once you get the hang of it. It's a huge open world where you level up as you complete main missions and side quest with other guys online if they happen to be doing the same mission you are. Like Diablo, you kill monsters to get the best loot for your character.

I also need a better graphic card.
I'm running on GeForce520, it gets the job done, but nothing compared to the screen shots and videos I've seen online!

People who like playing DS are masochistic. SRSLY.

My friend LOVES this game, and he made me play it while I was visiting with him. I was just like... why... why do I have to die every 3 seconds, and then run back to find my soul stain or whatever. Anyways... Props to you for playing the most difficult modern game.

It is kinda weird...It feels like the game shouldn't be fun because of how hard it is, but for some reason I can't explain it really sucks you in. Now I also feel like I don't want to waste my time with games that are easier, which is never something I considered before playing DS.

It's because if you fuck up you have nobody else to blame but yourself. The game is brutally hard, but it isn't cheap. So there's more satisfaction in knowing that you killed something when it really does come down to skill rather than button mashing.

I'm tempted to preorder DS2. Green Man Gaming has 20% off, making it only 40 bucks. Hmmmm...

DS2 is a great game, but not as good as DS1. It's a bit more forgiving and they made some minor changes to combat and the controls. Definitely worth the $40. Just saw a trailer for the pc release and it looked absolutely beautiful.

I might have to give this game a shot, always up for a challenge. I just can't tell if its my thing or not. I beat all the new Ninja Gaiden's on master ninja and all the original NES versions too.

Can't wait this friday to try the pc version(i already have it on xbox 360 120 hours on it)
it's so satisfying trolling people in the bell keeper zone with the "Chameleon" spell and "Soul Greatsword" spell lol!

but one thing i dont like with this game is with the multiplayer the game became too easy
ex:I have beaten the final boss in less than 20seconds because of the other player that i have summoned was too strong

the whole DS series (Demon's Souls, Dark Souls 1 & 2) is truly exceptional because they execute the core gameplay perfectly. I can't personally confirm this with DS2 as I'm also waiting for the PC version, but I've heard there are some hitbox issues and occasional NPC warping to set up certain moves or attacks, which actually breaks the very rules that series relies on...

The gameplay might feel clunky or cumbersome to a newcomer, and this is where the frustration roots in, but the truth is that it's very, very technically precise. Once you begin to learn the timings of offensive and defensive moves of each weapon and how your gear affects your character, you can begin to find the groove for each enemy type. Then something new comes along that requires a totally different strategy and you have to analyze and experiment until you learn how to overcome it consistently.

Each and every time you die, it's because you did something wrong. The game might feel cheap, but every enemy has a tell or a predictable set of actions. You might not know what you did wrong, but that's where it gets fun, the challenge of the unknown is constant (until you've become familiar with an area/enemy). This games provides you with a huge sense of accomplishment when you finally trounce that asshole boss that keeps face-raping you.

The other thing that sucked me into the game is all the lore. Looking up some of the youtube videos from vaatividya are fantastic.

Praise the sun. I don't believe I'll be getting much sleep next weekend.
