Question about wideband and software tuning
This is kind of a dumb question, but are widebands only used as a gauge? Like, they are only used for you to observe, not to actually implement into a tune as a variable correct?
So I guess I'm asking that if I were to install a wideband gauge, it does not connect to the car other than power and ground, and the tune is none the wiser. I've been reading up on the technology but so far it's all been theory. Care to enlighten on a noob? |

Typically they are not incorporated with the tune its self. However some people (myself included) wire in a wideband to the ECU for easier datalogging. A few of us have made custom tables in ecutek (and other platforms) to log and trigger maps etc based on wideband events. It is possible for example to make a failsafe for lean conditions in positive boost conditions.
But most tunes typically do not utilize the wideband its self.

What tuning platform are you using?
With Tactrix you can log it directly, the op2 has it's own input. With Ecutek you can connect it to the secondary o2 sensor and have a custom map to handle the input. OFT support is going to be similar to Ecutek and is going to be ready very soon as a package from Vishnu. - AdrianG |

Secondary O2 sensor will be a no-go since that's what my tuner uses for E85 content for flex fuel. I'll have to see about the Evap wire he tapped in the glove box. Thanks for the info so far!!!

With that being an input, we can actually do full time closed loop based off of the wb02, and also do compensation maps to err on the side of safety. So this would be something like this: AFR >12, Boost > 8, then timing drops by an x amount or fueling is enriched by x. So all those AEM failsafe features that (work really well) can be emulated from within the ECU.
