How to make this car look good without a drop?

Any good wheel/tire combos that minimize the gap? I don't want to upgrade my suspension for a few reasons.

1. Too costly, set of KW3s is 2grand
2. DD my car 50km a day, like the feel of stock suspension
3. Live in Canada, have friends who have had their suspensions seize on them (throwing $1500+ down the drain)

I'm going for purely cosmetic. The gap on this car is ridiculous

Just springs is a great upgrade, doesn't compromise ride quality (depending on which springs), much cheaper than coils, and close ~1in of the wheel gap.

+1 for springs. I'm on H&R super sports and they ride just as good, if not better than stock.

How much did the setup run you?

If i'm going to have to spend over $1000 I would rather just opt for the KW3 kit.. i heard springs kill your struts.

but anyways, can anyone post an example of a clean setup at stock height

Springs are usually only a couple hundred bucks.

Also curious about this. I have the coilovers, but I refuse to lower the car at all. With all the inclines and dips we have, I'm already scraping under bumper. Lowering it at all simply takes the daily drivability out for me.


I think all black wheels have the best effect on stock ride height. It provides no contrast and blends in with the gap. Just something with lower offset to bring the wheels out a bit.

Ride quality is as good or better than stock IMO. Love these springs.

I did not install myself, my shop was full at the time and I didn't feel like waiting. Paid just over $450 for install and alignment. Again I spent that b/c I was impatient to install myself.

I got the springs from Excelerate Performance here on forum. Chose them b/c they are local.

Flush offset using spacers brings the top of the tire out from under the fender shadow, and gives a symmetric gap between the fender around the circumference of the wheel and tire.

Its a nice balanced look especially with sidewalls and tread flush with the wheels.

Spacers are much cheaper than springs and less work to install.
To minimize the gap you are required to lower the car or use larger diameter tires.

Best cheap option would be as others said lowering springs, keeping in mind the lower you go on stock struts the more stress on stock struts, therefore 1" or less drop would do. I had Eibach Pro kit 1" drop prior to coils and they were fine actually, rode very well overall I went coils only to be able to fit different wheels as stock perch interferes with many wheel options I liked.

As far as point #3 suspension seizing that's well abit unheard of lol....must have been some cheap setups your friends have..

I have the RCE Yellow springs, and the drop is only 20mm (0.8") so it's one of the more mild drops and as many have stated, our stock dampers are pretty damn good. The lower the car, the less travel within the damper. So it builds up heat and wears out faster. How much faster? Hard to say. But a very mild drop and/or slightly taller tires (like 235/45-17) will help with that gap.

The RCE springs feel just fine to me. The stock springs aren't super soft to begin with (coming from a 2010 STi that felt like a boat in comparison).
