Headers for the Perrin 3"
Hey guys. I've been hearing rumors that the Perrin 3" may drone/rasp really bad with headers... I was wondering if anyone actually has headers on the 3" exhaust and could confirm (or deny).
I've got the Resonated 3" with the 3" catted front pipe. Trying to give the car a little growl without making her too loud. I'm also playing with the idea of tuning her in a couple weeks, and figured i may as well do some headers while I'm there. Would going EL Catted headers keep the car quieter while getting rid of a lot of the torque dip? Being in the PNW, I'm assuming PRE is a good bet to talk to for tuning. Taking advice there too.

![]() I've read that the majority of the gains with going with headers is going catless, so I have no idea if a catted header will get rid of the torque dip or not, but my guess is no. You will be surprised at how much a difference a header and tune makes though, the car is significantly faster on an E85 tune with headers and exhaust. |

he didnt ask about a uel, the borla header is loud period. im in the same boat as the op, im running the same exhaust setup, and dont want crazy rasp/drone. the three headers on my list are hks el, jdl uel, and nameless. considering going with a different catback option if the 3" is just too loud.

I've come to the conclusion that without lots of resonators and sound deadening like the stock header has, rasp is hard to avoid on 3". I really thought my 3" Nameless setup would have been free of this, but it just didn't happen. It should be used for a turbo only setup. |

Unless turbo? I can just say f##k it and grab a turbo kit. Probably have PRE do it in Portland. Something low boost that is reliable, hopefully.

Pretty much. Take my warning, 3" is intended for FI. The sound is too much for a DD and the rasp is what kills it for me the most.

Like I said, I'm already on the full Perrin 3". Just header/OP. I love the sound it makes, really. Sounds like I'll go with turbo next instead of keeping it NA with headers.

My car is a DD honestly it's not loud enough there is no rasp or drone. If you have your back seat up you will barely hear it.
