Ft86 vs Audi TT

Ok, I want to do this basic comparison between Ft86 to a Basic TT. I do know there is TT-S and TT-RS

Here go.

Audi TT 2800-3300 lbs curb weight. This is about the same or heavier to Ft86.

TT has 211hp and 254 torque. Stronger torque. With an Audi Badge, 10,000 more

Ft86 has 200 hp and 165 torque. Lower torque. Toyota, 10,000 less.

What do you say ? From my POV, the FT86 wins. Twin only need to have more variant options

If your comparison is biased towards lowest curb weight and MSRP, then I think the victor is clear: potato.

Agreed. Potato wins. But the few times I've driven the TT it's been an overall lackluster experience. If you factor in the "x-factors" I think the twins come pretty dang close. Both are great cars at their price points.

The missus doesn't like my primary means of conveyance much, but she may be an outlier.

MSRP on a base 2014 Audi TT coupe with no other options is $40,795 including destination.
MSRP on a base 2014 Scion FR-S with no other options is $25,455 including destination.

That is alot more than $10K. It is over $15K. For about $7K you can get a turbo or supercharger, better cooling, better brake pads, etc on that FR-S and easily make 275-400+whp and 220-300+ ft lbs or torque depending on whether you have E-85 available.

And still have a big chunk of change left over. MSRP of a 2014 BRZ Limited is $28,390 with destination. So you could go that route as well and spend $7K on perormance and still be well under an Audi TT. The FT86 would annihilate it.

But it depends on what you want. The Audi is quite a bit heavier at just under 3200lbs or about 400lbs heavier than the FR-S.

Personally, I don't think these two really compete much based on price alone.

Ok so, to make this a better comparison (this information is pulled of of their respective sites, or Edmunds.com):

2014 Audi TT:
Starting at $39,900.
2.0L Turbo I4 - 211 HP @ 4,300RPM, 258 TQ @ 1,600RPM.
6AT Dual Clutch Transmission
0-60: 5.3 seconds.
22 city / 31 highway MPG. Requires Premium fuel.
Roughly 3,175 lbs.

Has Automatic Climate Control, Auto Xenon Headlights/Windshield Wipers, Fog Lights, Leather/Alcantara interior, Auto-dimming rear view mirror, BOSE sound system. Heated mirrors, power adjustable seats. 18x9 wheels. Rear leg room approx. 29.3 inches, shoulder room approx. 47.5 inches.

Since these additions make it closer to a BRZ Limited, here is the comparison. I am showing an AT model because that changes the price and makes it more equal.

2014 Subaru BRZ Limited:
Starting at $29,490.
2.0L H4 - 200 HP @ 7,000RPM, 151 TQ @ 6,000RPM.
6AT Traditional (mimics a dual clutch)
0-60: 6.0 - 7.3 seconds.
25 city / 34 highway MPG (other sites list at 22/30). Requires Premium fuel.
Roughly 2,822 lbs (manual is 2,776 lbs).

You guys know what goes into a BRZ. 17x7 wheels and a LSD (which I believe comes on the TTS model). Rear leg room approx. 29.9 inches, shoulder room approx. 51.7 inches (yes, we have a bigger backseat).

Now you guys can make an informed decision. And yes, I believe potato is the winner as well.

Let's also not forget AWD vs. RWD, which with the added torque and DCT means quick 0-60 for the TT.

You're right. It's actually about 7.3 seconds (Motor Trend tested 7.7 seconds!). Fixed as well.
