OEM Brake Pad Life
So I'm still on OEM pads hitting 70,000 miles. There is no wear indicator sounding as yet. I remember after my 23,000 mile service at the dealer, they had the report that the wear was only 10%. So pretty much the brakes can probably last half the life of the car? lol

I've seen OEM pads on other cars last up to triple digits, some people drive on long high ways and rarely use their brakes. My 87 300ZX was running stock pads and rotors until i changed them at 98K miles.
But you? You're running over 240HP and yet your stock pads and rotors last to 70K? My OEM pads were done at 30K and that's with spirited driving and one auto x.

There are people on here who have said one track day had them basically to the backing... sounds like you dont ever use your brakes.

I have ~78k km's on my car and I'm on my second set of aftermarket front pads, plus I run the stock pads in the winter. OP is definitely not hard on the brakes

Ummmm... flame suit on but what is the point of this thread? It's another "how long is a piece of string?" post.

I haven't tracked my car yet or auto x, but I do a lot of mountain driving. I live right by a 30 mile stretch of curved road that I used to drive almost every weekend. Believe me, I use them a lot. My rotors are in terrible shape though.

Nope.
I'm amazed because I had a brand new tC before I got the frs and those brakes went out in 30k miles with my same driving style. I'll stick by my claim that the oem pads for the frs have great wear characteristics. Either that or that they are balanced well b/t front a rear.

Mine still looked like new after 9500km, two lapping days and 4 auto x, but there was absolutely NO initial bite and they were just totally glazed over.
Into the garbage they went... |

You may "use" them a lot, but I doubt they are seeing prolonged operation at max temps.
