Seeings how I couldnt decide if I really wanted to do it I just used white plastidip so I could remove it if needed. Turned out great.

Its really easy. Take out airbag and horn fuses, remove airbag using a screwdriver to pop 3 tab points (search here for that) and you'll have access to get the steering wheel trim off.
