Enkei Kojin 18x8.5 +45 - Tire help
Hey guys,
It's been a while since I was into the tuner scene, so I'm reaching out for a little guidance on tires. I think I've finally decided to put the Enkei Kojins on my FRS. I'm leaning towards a square set up of 18x8.5 +45 offset. The car is my daily driver and will likely remain on stock suspension until it wears out. Our roads are crap, and I spend a lot of time in the mountains. Most roads are highway, but enbankments, pot holes, etc. happen often. So here's the question. What tires and sizes should I run? I've looked through all of the wheel directory posts but there isn't a ton of square set ups in this size. I am also not opposed to running a larger tire on the rear if anyone can offer guidance, but I was hopeful that by going with a square set up, I could extend some tire life by rotation, ya know ![]() My KEY points on the tire choice: 1) Must be ideal in wet/dry, hot/cold. They will not see snow conditions. 2) Would like to get some decent mileage out of them - I'm a fairly reserved driver 3) No rubbing on stock suspension but they need to be meaty enough to protect the wheel 4) I hate stretched tires. I'd rather them rub at full-turn Thanks in advance, fellas!

The above tyre choice is solid, if you wanted a meatier tyre you could go to the 235 which would give you good wrap over the edge of the rim.
I run Michelin PSS on my 7.5" wide rims in the 225/40 and is pretty well perfect fit, putting these on an 8.5" wide rim might be a very mild stretch, but not really noticeable. If you want plenty of meat on the rims, the 235 will be a better choice imo. A 225/40 and 235/40 will have a taller rolling diameter than the stock wheels, so your speedo will read out (speedo reads slower than actual speed). 235/35 is slightly shorter than stock, so you will be travelling slower than what speedo states (safer for speeding , but also less sidewall and cushion to protect against potholes).http://www.rimsntires.com/specspro.j...5&text1=&text2= |

I have Kojins 18 x 8 +35 with PSS 225/40 R18's. The tires fit the rims perfectly. The front rims are flush and the back is 8-10mm from being flush.
I went with this setup because the wheels are a bit lighter and there's no stretch on the tires. Cheers |
