GT86/BRZ at Tsukuba Circuit

I'm not sure what is done to this but if it truly ran a 1'04 that would make it a little quicker than an Mistu EVO8 or an Acura NSX:

I'm no cartographer but the bucket seats and harnesses ought to give that away.

Did anyone stay at a Holiday Inn Express last night? Maybe that person knows what all the mods are?

Google Translate would have me guess that these are the mods:

【ECUTEK computer; Sports
· VMGT wing
front member center ring bolt
Dry Carbon roof
-Aragosuta REVOLUTION SPEC Suspension Kit
-carbon induction box
-pillow ball tie rod ends

I would probably say the tyres are semi slick or full slick as well.

Im a little confused I read the mod list, and its fairly stock, aside from ECU, exhuast, intake, suspension and a bit of chassis improvements.

Its putting down less than 1:10 on Tskuba, making it just as fast as a if not faster than a Stock BNR32 Skyline GTR

am i missing something?

EDIT: I also read on the Tsukuba lap records that a stock MR2 had better laptimes than some exotics like ferarri and bmw m3s... so im not so surprised anymore

The way it picks up speed to me suggests it might be force inducted (perhaps supercharged) but that's just my speculation. Tsukuba is a good mix of different elements for being a pretty short circuit. I think it's a great place to benchmark cars. Modified Evos and STIs probably have a better advantage compared to a super-car like a 458 or 911. It's a great place for a BRZ, S2K, RX8, etc.

Yeah thats true tsukuba is a very slow speed circuit. Thats why u see lot of ff drive cars competing against sti and evos. Check out some of the episodes of BM and you will see sti beating all the exotic cars. Nonetheless, brz and frs are great for autox and togue. And thats what makes them fun to drive cars

He passed the RX8 braking into the final corner. Granted he caught up, but we don't know any information about the RX8 or it's driver. He could have been taking it easy? Perhaps he had brake fade? Could have been a 5 speed RX8, who knows how old?

If the 86 also has a carbon roof, and is the JDM stripped out model, that would weigh around 1000kg's. Add an ECU tune and I think 1.04 with decent tyres and suspension is completely doable. Specially from a good driver who preserves momentum in the corners.

I doubt they are running FI. There is a severe lack of gauges to suggest this and I doubt you would want to take a FI modified car with a new untested engine to the track with no feedback.

I think right now it's all speculation, but I think we will easily see the twins breaking the 1min mark at Tsukuba.

Edit:
After doing a bit more browsing on their site I found this:
http://revo-tune.jp/info/article.php..._from=&ucat=7&

If those parts + pictures are indications of what is installed in their car, this thing is a NA monster. I would say carbon doors, 5.1 or 4.8 final gear ratio change, as well as a full exhaust. The final gear ratio alone would be enough to shave a second off as it would essentially increase torque through the gear range. As top speed is unlikely to be an issue at Tsukuba, I would say this is how the car is faster than the RX8. If you look for a best motoring S2000 comparison, the S2000 also benefited from a higher final gear ratio.

Just imagine what happens when they add some more aggressive cams
