Critters chewing on my car.
My windshield wiper fluid stopped working -- it'd just spray fluid below the engine bay. I assumed the hose had come loose, but it turned out some rodent had chewed it up.
Has anyone else had issues with this? How do you prevent this from happening? I'm considering mothballs but I don't want to stink up my car. I suppose I'm lucky as it was just the wiper fluid hose and not some electrical wires or something like that. |

I hear (from an exterminator) Cayenne pepper works well too, I had a squirrel chew right into my main engine harness so consider yourself lucky and act fast.

Try mousetraps with peanut butter if this is a garage. Get the good old wood and wire snap kind. Put them under your car and around the edges of your garage. Check periodically. If this doesnt work, you could do glue traps but those get pretty gruesome. Snap traps work outdoors too but you might get fluffy from next door too.

My dad has had this happen quite a bit. Best bet is if you live in a home and park outside, we sprayed Fox Urine around the parking area. keeps the critters away. City of McKinney won't let us put squirrel traps out, but they have and since we sprayed that urine around the property line and trees, no squirrels at all

There are outdoor super sonic emitters with built in motion detectors that you can buy. it's chemical free and only annoys critters if they are near your car.
Sometimes when I play basketball at my old highschool, you can hear a high frequency high pitched sound that's barely detectable. Works for the school, should work for the home as well. |

If so, get rid of the food source and seal up any ingress points. Chipmunks ate my ex's wiring harness on her G35... they had enough since not to nibble on my Evo, lucky little bastards ![]()
