Repainting vs vinyl over stock limited spoiler
Hey guys-
Going through the laundry list of put-off projects for the car, and one was cleaning up the stock limited rear spoiler on the BRZ. The paint on the top is not great anymore, and no amount of detailing is going to get it back to acceptable short of repainting it entirely. Since I have smoked tails and 4th, and the roof is going to be gloss black in the next couple of weeks, I was considering making the spoiler gloss black as well. The car is Ultramarine/GBS, so black accents have been proving to fit rather nicely. So, do I have it painted gloss black by a local shop, or do I attempt to do a vinyl wrap instead? I've been contemplating both, and while I have decent experience with vinyl, I'm not so sure the shape of the spoiler is going to be the best for wrapping it. Too many angles, sharp turns, seams, etc. Cost to do vinyl is obviously much lower, but the potential difference in quality is on my mind. Am I overthinking this? |

if you're already going to have paintwork done, a few small extra pieces aren't going to be much more expensive once they get the paint gun loaded up.
i would definitely paint it.

I should clarify, this would be the only piece being painted. The roof is being done in gloss black vinyl, which is what sparked the thought of using the same vinyl on the spoiler.

ah, i see. then i would likely give vinyl a shot, or spray it myself with rattle cans.
