Hey guys, I feel like I've bugged so many people about this including the lady working for Jesse (JDL) himself and can't seem to get a 100% confident straight answer.
The car (2013 FRS) is currently N/A with the only mod being JDL UEL headers. It is getting tuned soon so I wanted to get the FP/OP combo, dual resonated and 3inch. The reason for the 3in over 2.5in is that in the near future I will be getting a turbo kit and want the 3inch for that purpose. With that I have a couple questions that I desperately need answered before I pull the trigger. 1. JDL said their 3inch version of the FP/OP combo comes with a flat outlet flange and not a donut. Will this still bolt up to my stock midpipe? 2. Will the 3inch OP/FP combo bolt straight up to any aftermarket 3in midpipe that I will buy when I get the turbo? 3. Will the 3inch OP/FP combo bolt straight up to both, my current non turbo UEL headers as well as the turbo manifold I will get from JDL as well when I go turbo? 4. Will any aftermarket 3in midpipe bolt up fine to my stock cat back because I don't plan on changing that for a while? 5. Other than the two exhaust gaskets I need for either side of the FP/OP, do I need any other hardware for the install? Exhaust bolts? Sorry, I know these questions seem trivial but I'm nervous about buying it internationally and then running into troubles after getting the part and having to reschedule the tuning appointment. Thanks for all the help in advance! |

I mean, if you look on JDL's website and based on your own info you are supplying, it's pretty self explanatory.
1. No. 3" Flat 2 bolt flange vs 60mm donut. 2. Yes, most likely. 3. Depends on the size of the outlet on your current header. Probably not as they are usually 2.5 2 bolt. 4. No 5. Yes, you are going to need some 2.5 to 3 adaptors.

1. Would you recommend an adapter or is it just better to get the 2.5 which will bolt right up and sell it for the 3in when I have the 3inch midpipe?
3. https://jdlautodesign.com/collection...41925743149216 they dont seem to specify on their site and take forever to get back on email Any other way of finding out? I mean they also dont give you the option to specify an outlet size or say that it only fits 2.5 or 3. Any chance it could be universal and fit both?4. I'm assuming the stock catback will only accept 2.5 in midpipes? So if my midpipe is 3in I have to upgrade the stock catback or get an adapter? |

Get the 2.5inch. Even if you plan to go boosted, it will not restrict much till pretty high WHP numbers. For NA your ears will thank you. Get the 2.5inch

Grimmspeed makes a nice 3”-2.5” adapter. SKU 077044 Or you can run an aftermarket 2.5” over pipe, with a 3”front pipe and the flange configuration of your choosing from JDL which is what I did.

I've used the grimmspeed. It is made to adapt from 3" to a 2.5 donut, but I cut it down to work as a 3" flat to 2.5" flat when needed and it worked fine. I have one on my car now to adapt to 3" FP to stock midpipe.
https://subimods.com/products/grimms...RoCkucQAvD_BwE Much as I hate PLM they make a 2.5 to 3 adaptor as well that is budget friendly. https://privatelabelmfg.com/products...xoCRXoQAvD_BwE
