Rattling sound from front right side of car.

All ,

I have a slight rattle coming from the front right side of my 2015 brz . It sounds like a spring or suspension component flexing. I't only happens when pulling off from a complete stop. I have no suspension mods, just the stuff below

I 've done the following modifications to the car.

Brake rotors DBA 4000 with hawk pads
FT 86 speed factory catted exhaust
Perring down pipe
HKS resonated mid pipe
Perrin resonated 2.5 cat back
Misihi moto Fan shround and aluminum radiator
Perrin cold air intake with Ecutek tune HRI tuning in Orlando
Perring oil cooler
Enkei 18*8.5 wheels with 245/35/18 michelin pilot A/S

Jack up that side and see if you can shift the spring to see if it's seated properly before you set it back down, or check the strut bolts up top make sure they are torqued down. If it's not suspension related it might just be something rubbing in the engine bay.

I was getting rattle or popping sound from the driver side and that happened after I had some 18x9.5 for a couple days they were obviously heavier than stock. I tracked down the sound and it came from the rack an pinion. Torque it down a bit didn't seem to be loose at all but once I torqued them to 55ftpd the sound was gone.

I will check the rack and struts. I really appreciate the help. I checked the torque specs on the brake caliper, I put the brake silencer on the pads etc.

Thanks again

NOthing is loose steering wise. I'f I accelerate hard there is what sounds like a muffled rattle ( sounds kind of like a spherical bearing with no grease ) coming from the right front of the car.

Current mileage 11300.

is your exhaust rubbing against something? the over pipe is pretty close to the subframe so it might be rubbing when you are accelerating

This was my thought. I've installed 4 exhausts at this point, and on the 3rd the Overpipe cleared the frame (or so I thought), until the motor flexed and then it would rub the frame.

Check it out.

Loose axle nuts will also make a goofy sound that can sound like a spring. I had a noise that sounded like what you describe. The nuts are like 4 bucks a piece from the dealer, so it would be cheap to just replace them.

Axle nuts ? I used the Perrin over pipe, yeah it's really close to the frame . I'm going to look for rub marks.

Thanks again for the insight

Have you ever found a fix? I'm running OFH2 and 1320 performance Overpipe, and I'm also having the same problem with the rubbing, only when im in a complete stop and the noise is gone when in Neutral. Accelerating hard will also get that stupid noise also

Seems like my stock car has developed random tiny rattles when moving from a stop. Just started noticing last night, and it doesn't do it consistently...

All I have is front sway bar, crash bolts (basics for street class autox).

Will look into the rack, I assume there's just few bolts holding it down?
I do notice that the electric steering column makes a slight sound when starting to nudge it slightly from stationary, not sure if that's related...

I did hear a couple of thunks a month or two ago that happened over 2 days. Thought I had lost alignment and jacked up the car to check the suspension at that time and everything seemed tight.

I believe my rear axle does make the ticking sound sometimes when trying to move forward while slightly rolling back.
But the tiny rattles I hear recently feels/sounds from the front.

Please report back if any answers found. I'll update if I find anything when I get around to checking things on my car...

Well, spent a good 2.5 hours under the car this past weekend, checking all the suspension/sway bar/steering rack bolts/subframe/undertray/strut mounts/strut tower braces/etc. and the random rattling still exists.

The only thing I can conclude is the steering rack and pinion insides are rattling, since I can make a rattle sound by slightly moving steering wheel at a stop.
Doesn't sound like something in the steering column area, I was able to slightly rotate the steering shaft/joint by the steering rack while under the car and could make the similar small rattle/clunk sound, but not the rapid rattling sounds when coming to a stop or starting to move the car from a stop.

Maybe there is a play in the rack and pinion? Is there a way to lube the inside of the rack???
I went ahead and sprayed some lube onto the shaft/joint, which may have psychologically lessened the sound, but I think it's something inside the rack that needs lube or the teeth are somehow worn inside there?
