Carbon Fiber Center Console
Agency Power has, unfortunately, now discontinued their carbon fiber center console. Anyone know who else fabricates these?

That's the backup plan. I just love the actual 3D look of carbon fiber and how it refracts the light. Everything else in my car is real carbon fiber and I think the vinyl is going to look really tacky when it's directly near the real deal stuff.

Any good carbon shop should be able to splash a mould from your console, and make one, all it takes is $$.

Better off skinning it yourself of having a carbon shop skin it for you. I wrapped my own and It took probably 40 hours of work. ![]()

I've wrapped some real small trim pieces before; nothing with the complexity of structure and ridge detailing of a center console piece. What are the watch outs? In hindsight would you have done anything differently to make it easier? |

But after all my failures I was able to nail this one. There are a few imperfections. I've never been able to create a perfect carbon piece. But its damn close so I'll take it. If you know what you're getting into then I would definitely recommend you give it a shot. I'll give you some pointers and help you out along the way if you ever have any questions. 1. I didnt vacuum bag, I dont think this piece really needs a vacuum bag to be successful. 2. You need a 1 square yard of carbon for this piece. 3. Cut your carbon out then spray the entire side with spray adhesive and wait 10-15 minute before you attempt to place the carbon on your piece. (very important). This allows you to rip the carbon off your piece if you screw up placing it with no weave distortion whatsoever. I had to pull and replace my piece 3 times. 4. You need a lot of patience with this piece. Dont rush anything and dont set a due date. Just work at it at your own pace and dont move on until everything is as perfect as you can make it. 5. Lay the epoxy on real thick and many coats. This piece takes a lot of sanding. 6. I bondo'd that square hole in because its near impossible to get tight edges on a recession that small. I gave mine a nice slight recession that flows over the square. 7. I placed air hardening clay all over the piece where I didn't want epoxy to leak into and cause problems when reattaching. Especially where the shifter bezel attaches. 8. For the center cup holding section I pulled the carbon down as far as I could. Then took bondo all the way up to about a half inch from the top. Sanded as best I could ( i could have down better wth my bondo work here). Then taped off a line and painted the whole thing black. Easily my favorite carbon project to date. It is easily the best looking carbon addition you can add to your interior. It really sets everything off. I added some toggle switches for my gauges while I was at it. If you have anymore questions let me know! Send pics of your progress.
