Southern Ontario Driving Roads

Anyone know nice quieter areas, roads to cruise on and enjoy the car, preferably windy roads with sharper turns?

not in the GTA

try northern Ontario, Northern Quebec or BC

you get the occasional country road outside the GTA with some nice turns but nothing crazy, usually they have stop signs anyway so unless you wanna get reckless there isn't much fun. Plus cops know them and patrol them.

You should come out to a time attack event or autocross instead

Yep, I know lots of 'em. Where are you located and how far are you willing to drive to go for a drive?

Edit: just noticed you're from T.O. Most of the stuff I know is East of you, but well worth a trip. Everything from big lazy sweepers to roads stacked with 40,30, and even 20kph posted corners. Some of them with lots of elevation changes as well.

Can you point out a few specifically? I go east often up to our cottage in Quebec, all I really know is the #2 and the #7...

Flinton rd off hwy 7 from Hwy 37 at Tweed to Hwy 41 near Northbrook. Some very twisty sections some sweepers and some sharp little hills that will have you catching air if you're going too fast or don't know the road. Pavement is decent.

The 506/509 run from Hwy 41 near Cloyne (hwy 41 crosses hwy7 at Kaladar) to Hwy 7 at 38. This is an hour long rollercoaster ride... some straights, every type of corner you could imagine, and a fair bit of elevation changes as it winds around lakes and through the rocks. Pavement is decent to good.

Side trip: Desert lake rd off hwy 38 near Verona (south of Sharbot lake at Hwy 7). I think this may be the twistiest piece of pavement I've ever encountered. It's short, goes nowhere useful, and the pavement isn't the best, but it is fun.

County rd 10 (Perth rd) from Kingston to Perth is a nice flowing road (nothing too crazy), and the pavement is good to very good.

Hwy 511 North of Perth is also very good fun (fits somewhere between 506/509 and Perth rd as far as twisties go) 508 from the top of 511 to the East is good as well.

Those are some of my favorites form my biking days. I'll have to dig up some notes/maps to offer any more. My memory ain't what it used to be...

Robby. When we have a cruise meet, maybe you could help to plan the route.

I've been pulled over there twice for speeding. The cops hang out by the buildings near the end with a radar.

It's a nice road though. It's short. There is also the little twist by the Toronto Zoo off of Steeles Ave by old finch. No cops there but the roads there aren't perfect. Scared the sh!t out of myself once when I slid through a corner.

Snake Rd in Burlington. It starts at Plains Rd and ends at the Waterdown border at the train bridge. One of the best twisty roads in the area and completely enjoyable at sane speeds. They actually shot the Canadian commercial for the initial S2000 release on this road cause of the nice twisties!

Yeah old Finch going down hill is freaking crazy, but really fun to drive.

If you mean me, I'd be glad to. If people would be willing to drive that far, the Flinton rd to 506/509 run would be roughly a 1/2 way point between T.O. and Ottawa. Maybe some of the Ottawa folks would want a piece of that too. Could be a cool meet-n-greet.
Alternately, there is also some fun stuff North of Peterborough.
