clutch differences fr-s v Br-z - Toyota GR86, 86, FR-S and Subaru BRZ Forum & Owners Community

is there a difference between the clutch experience out of the factory in the twins?
I own a Fr-s 2013 w/ 21k miles and i just drove a 2013 br-z w/ 42k miles. coming from an fr-s into the br-z was like entering a whole new car when it came to the clutch. just reversing was completely different. when i reversed in his it felt like the car was adding gas even though i wasn't on the gas at all. his was insanely smooth and the clutch felt more forgiving. In my fr-s it feels like the clutch is more primitive, i guess. I still have trouble driving mine smoothly as i just got the car and am still learning, but when i drove his it felt like i had been driving a manual for years and could do no wrong.

anyways TL;DR is there a difference out of factory or is there something wrong with my clutch lol?

absolutely no difference. Except for some inconsequential doo-dads, they are literally the same car.

that is what i thought but there was a huge difference between our clutches. could it just be the way the clutches are adjusted? it is possible he adjusted his clutch, or the previous owner did.

Pretty sure the FR-S is a little faster and of course better looking, same clutch though.

I don't have any experience with these clutches since I still don't have my new car yet... I have however read in several places on these forums that there is a clutch spring tht people like to take off to improve the clutch feel though.

Again I'm no expert but HERE is the thread explaining how to do it and everyone on that thread seems to sing this simple mod's praises. I'd at least wait for other more experienced guys advice before you jump in and do it, I just thought I'd give you a little bit of reading material to help you out.

It's the same from the factory, but can be modified.

My car's clutch was modified by the previous owner, saying this because I've had two different people tell me it's different from stock. I want to drive someone's BRZ/FR-S and feel just how different it is, and which I prefer, haha.

Only one of the people had the same car and they said it felt like a shorter travel distance, and that it was different, but they liked it.

Hopefully someone I meet lets me drive their car...

I will look to see if I still have the spring next time I remember about this

The difference is the part number and the box is different as well.
