Oil issues with my avo brz...help!!!!!
I have the avo kit on my brz... No catch can yet but I'm getting oil right to the throttle body...like wayyyy more than just regular blow by. Thought we were getting to much vacuum pulling oil up from the reservoir so we just vented everything to atmosphere to see if that helped but it's still pissing oil out the vent tube. But the car runs fine.... Soooo confused.

Have you vented the PCV, the Reservoir and the breather? All three?
If yes, it could be left over oil from before venting them or turbo seals.

If it's as much oil as it sounds like I'd guess turbo oil seal. Or maybe the pcv is leaking back through, pressurizing the crankcase and blowing oil back up through the crankcase breather to the port in front of the intake manifold. My pcv leaked bad under boost without an additional check valve.

Running a mr2 or supra turbo pcv in line...and generally if it's blown turbo seals wouldn't it be smoking bad out the exhaust?.....also we just realized the bov was stuck shut so that's fixed and now after some driving I think the system has blown out the excess oil after being vented to atmosphere.. It's not leaking out the vent tube anymore.. I'm still getting oil blowing out of my boost controller solenoid though...so frustrated

Is the oil drain working properly on the AVO kit? If not then there will be too much pressure inside the turbo and it will leak past the turbo seals and into the intake (and exhaust) pipes.

For what it's worth, I have a lot of experience in dealing with crankcase blow by issues on boxer motors. When I turbocharged my FRS race car I knew I had to eliminate the OEM crankcase ventilation system.
![]() From what I remember there are two crankcase/valve cover breather hoses. If you see on our Competition catch can we vent the main breather into the -12 in our air/oil separator (block fitting was removed and a -12 port threaded into block) and then the other hose next to the throttle body was directed to the other -10 fitting on our can. No PCV is used. All crankcase ventilation now vents to atmosphere. Even at 400 whp, slick tires, and huge downforce, I'm not getting hardly any oil blow by in to the catch can. Subaru has definitely improved the oil control on this motor as we have serious issue with the EJ motor puking out the breathers (heads an crankcase). I suspect and I hate to say this, but based on what my motor is doing at high power vs. yours, you may have a cracked piston ringland. This would cause the excessive pressure in the crankcase. Make sure you have your hoses correctly vented and nothing from your charge pipe is going into either crankcase breather. Last edited by Element Tuning; 09-11-2013 at 05:44 PM. Add a photo of your setup. From the sound of it you are running the stock pcv and setup which could be part of your problem, but without a photo to see how you have everything setup it will be hard to narrow down

As long as neither the block breather or the PCV are pouring oil out, then yeah thats good news.

Please take pictures of exactly how you have everything configured currently. My best guess at this point is still the turbo oiling system. Your best bet would be to check with AVO on how much oil flow the turbo should be seeing and then pull your return line off and see how much flow you are getting.
