Tirerack TPMS ATEQ Quickset Issue
I got new wheels from tirerack. Got the TPMS installed. I got a ATEQ Quickset tool. I got that working ok it seems, i can pull/push the codes to/from the vehicle, if i read them back i get what tirerack told me they are.
My TPMS light doesnt go away. I checked pressure, drove far and fast etc. Do they need to be taken out of sleep mode? I read about some systems coming out of sleep by pressurizing, some by pressurizing/depressurizing? I havent tried deflating the wheels yet to see if that kicks them to life. Do we need to do this with these sensors? Nobody else seems to have to. Other people bring them somewhere to scan them and that brings them to life maybe? Any suggestions? I read about maybe a misread on tirerack side, where B and 8 are confused. Buying the quickset tool is kind of defeated if i have to pay to get them to come to life. |

I bought TPMS ATEQ Quickset two weeks ago... I don't encountered any problem using this tool. I asked the installer of the tire to take note the exact TPMS Sensor code. The tires have 400 miles with no TPMS light indicator. Try to check if you got the correct TPMS Sensor Code...

I am wondering if they got the codes wrong. Now I have to pay somebody to read the sensors. I shouldn't have to...

The sensors definitely don't "sleep". My summer wheels/tires have been in the basement since the middle of November and if I let the car warm up in the garage it picks up the sensors in wheels in the basement.

Not sure about these but some sensors come from the factory asleep to save battery until they are installed. Some power up when they see a rise in pressure. Some seem to need pressure, then to be deflated to fully turn on? I tried cycling pressure. No go. My bet is on bad id from tire rack? The 8 and B mix up seems likely. I just have quite a few 8 and B do I don't want to waste my time figuring it out. If I knew somehow if it was reading anything it would be nice but system is stupid. Yellow light is all you get.

Three out of four sensors read ok. Last one reads -7psi and -40C. So one sensor is either the wrong id or it is broken. Now I need to figure out what tire that sensor is in. Frustrating.

Swap one of the old ids in the rotation until you find the corner that's causing a fit (assuming only one is a problem). That will at least narrow it down for you. Also keep the old sensor nearby when you do this, obviously.

Tire rack gave me one wrong id. Three of the six digits were wrong? Not just one digit. Not just a issue of reading the sensor id wrong. Tire rack is supposedly going to reimburse me. The ateq quick set works well at least. Finally no light.
