Suspension question

I am new on suspension system. So, I am planning to drop my car, and I am planning to get Tein Flex Z.
Do I need front and rear LCA? camber bolt as well?
Also,,when I do alignment, what is the best handling/grip setting for DD and semi hard cornering? However, I dont want too much camber.

Thanks.

Alright I am going to assume 1-1.5inch drop only any lower and I will suggest another route. Get camber bolts for the front and max them out (aim for -2.5 camber front but you will likely only get about -2.0) Get cheap LCA's for the rear and set you camber to -1.5 to -2.0 camber in the rear and dial in the under-steer/over-steer you desire but adjusting the camber accordingly. More camber in front = over-steer, more in the rear means under-steer.

If any of this does not make sense to you then you should not be putting coilovers on your car. and have fun!

Yes, i understand 75% of it.

Thanks, i ll keep that in mind, and tell the alignment guy to do so.
More camber in the front and less in the back.

Yup basically. -2.5 front shouldn't give you bad camber wear especially if you drive it a litter harder then a normal car in the corners. I would start with about a 0.5 degree difference front to back.

@go_a_way1 I'm about to put my car on TRD springs. should be 1" or a little more and going to 17x8.25 w/235's. I was gonna buy some bolts for the front, but do you think LCA's for the rear are called for, as well?

I would if I was you. Rear camber can be off by 1 degree from 1 side to the other and still be factory spec. Just get the whiteline ones, no need for anything fancy. If you dont care about performance dont bother.

Thanks!

I do care about performance (though I'm getting cheap wheels, but I won't be using them for autocross), I had just thought I wasn't going to need it. I'll look and see what options there are for LCA's. I also care about quality and shiny-ness

You don't "need" them but I would recommend it. If your already paying for an alignment may as well have your car set up the way you want it right?

I have an appointment with an alignment guy on the 18th and we talked on the phone quite a bit. I'm skipping the LCA and toe arms until we have dialed in the car once without it. I'll report back if the answer ends up being "You must" instead of "recommended". I don't see getting the LCA and not the toe though....

edit: forgot rear toe is already adjustable. No reason for toe links.

be prepared to see uneven camber and know there is nothing you can do about it

Yup that's all you need if you want to go as cheap as possible. And yes you only need the bolts for the front to start. If you need more camber up front then we can educate you about camber plates, but let's cross that bridge when we get there.

I would suggest to skip the camber bolts. The camber plates that come with your flex z will give you more than enough adjustment up front. Camber bolts also have a higher chance of slipping (in comparison to your plates) and causing your alignment to be off from what you want.

Oh yeah totally forgot those come with top hats!! The bolts are nice to make fine adjustments and in a race situation you want to get camber from the bolts vs the top hat due to the way the suspension travels but thats way above what the OP needs to worry about lol.
