Paint Scratch I Didn't See on Delivery...
Got an Argento FR-S on the other day. Fell in love with it on the test drive. I took delivery later that day, and despite my inspection, I later found a small, rice grain-sized paint chip (with slight rust) in the driver's door, right on the edge of the door. With the door closed, it's almost impossible to see as it mostly faces the door jamb. When open, it's just above door handle height, but again, on the edge, not on the front or back of the door.
The dealer is standing by me and I'll have it in the shop next week at no cost to me. I've already informed them that I don't want some dude to pile touch-up paint on top of what's there, and that it's got to be invisible. They are good doing whatever it takes. What are the chances that it'll be undetectable? In the past, I returned a car for a similar issue and demanded my money back. In the long run, I am not sure that it was worth the hassle. I really love THIS car, so I am willing to go through the process. Anyone go through this with the FR-S? |

is it worth having miles put on your car by a random person(s)(hooning) and potentially keeping your car for multiple days? paint might match decent but spray pattern is never the same. they will try to blend it, but it all depends on how good your eye is. you are better off asking for the cost to fix it and find someone yourself or pocket the money.

Thank swarb. Interesting perspective.
My dealer had their shop look at it today and it's a one-day fix. Had to look-up "hooning". I guess I never had to think about that with my previous family-sized SUV's.
