Your stock exhaust manifold revealed
I recently installed the Open Flash Header on my car and thought I would share these photos.
This is the lump as it comes off the car. |

As you can see the header is really not that bad a piece of work.
It is actually welded tubing rather than stamped steel as I expected it to be. This may be why massive gains are not being seen with aftermarket headers. Because the stock one is really not that bad. Another thing to notice is there is foam between the heat shield and the header. I'm guessing that this is the prevent rattling. One thing you really have to think about is: If Toyota went though all the trouble and expense of making this heat shield it must be there for a reason. (To prevent fires maybe?). I think I'm going to wrap my header tomorrow. |

If this was stainless, shiny, smoothed joint connections, no heat shield, etc..it could easily pass for an aftermarket header..maybe borla or something. |

I'm impressed that the stock header is a stepped one (4-2-1) which is better then a 4-1 header. The only thing I think would make the stock header better is the size of the piping. Really this is a good stock header, all things considered.
