Does the oil change (every 7500 miles or 7.5 month) assume you're using synthetic oil

Does the oil change (every 7500 miles or 7.5 month) assume you're using synthetic oil or standard oil? I asked this in another thread but got no response.

It is scheduled as per the recommended oil so that would be synthetic.
Are you using standard oil?

I was changing mine at 7.5 months and got "scolded" by the dealership for not doing it every 6 months even tho the manual says 7.5

I do it every 6 months now.

You shouldn't be using anything but synthetic honestly, and this car asks specifically for it I believe, and it's 7500 miles or 7.5 months whichever comes first so it can be assumed that's using synthetic

Full Synthetic 0W20

And that business of needing to change oil every 6 months, regardless if only minimal miles are driven during that period, is all hogwash in my opinion. Those New Car Dealerships just wanna take our money.

I've had mine since 4/15 and have put 3k miles on it so I will probably put 4k every year. Yeah I'm not changing my oil every 6 months at 2k miles.

I agree that it is hogwash but don't point the finger just at the dealer. A timed change has been pushed by the oil industry for as long as there have been cars it isn't something that the dealers just made up. Oil sitting unused in your engine is not breaking down and a timed change makes no sense at all. If it breaks down over time then the bottles need to be dated so we always know it is fresh. This is especially true with the modern multi grade synthetics.
There is also the fact that it is the manufacturers recommendation not the dealerships (even if this statement counters my earlier one saying it is the oil companies).

I am currently using whatever oil the dealership presumably put in before I bought my pre-certified FRS. It's a bummer how expensive oil changes are going to be for these cars though. $50 for 6 quarts of synthetic oil + $10 for the filter.

LOL I do almost 4K a month and have had oil changes almost every two months.
I probably wouldn't in your case either but if you have engine issues they will use that fact to not cover under warranty since it is the minimum required interval.

Good!
Yep but you gotta pay to play. Like I just said above I have had to have the oil changed every two months due to mileage but I knew the frequency and costs before I bought the car and planned for them.
It has been shown on here many times that these engines can be very oil sensitive (like most low displacement, high compression ones are) so messing with other things to save a few bucks just isn't worth the risk.

They can take their intervals and stick them up their butt. I also got an extended warranty and now realize that was pointless. I think I will have maybe 30k miles at the end of the warranty in 7 years. I'll probably drop that too.

Your dealership may have a point. According to my 2013 FRS-S manual, under severe conditions (repeated short distance driving; driving in extremely cold weather), the oil should be changed every 3,750 miles or 3.75 months.

So, living in Wisconsin would qualify you for the cold weather bit ..... how about your driving habits ...... ??

Well now, you could buy a case of 12 quarts of Genuine Toyota Motor Oil from Amazon ($80) (keep the receipt).

Get one of those fancy twist open drain plugs.

Change the oil at every 6 months (DIY - keep a log) (keep the old oil for the change after next)........ put in new oil ........you see where I'm going with this ......

Back in the day, we used to drain the oil out of the new car ...... put it in the old truck ....... drain that oil out of the truck and put it in the oldest tractor ...... drain that oil and return it to the earth (by spraying it on the gravel road in front of the house, to keep down the dust).

Sheesh ...... and the folks today think they invented recycling .....
