Need help from good mechanics with tips on seized O2 sensors - Toyota GR86, 86, FR-S and Subaru BRZ Forum & Owners Community

Hey guys recently i got my hands on nameless long tube headers and today was the day I tired to install the headers and overpipe. Car is currently sitting on the car jacks without exhaust manifold. When i took out the headers i was hoping that O2 sensor would just come out easily but its pretty tight and cant even get it to move at all. Any tips or comments would be helpful. One more thing, how did yall remove the oem overpipe? mine has really bad rust on every heat shield nuts and its also all rounded off(idk how i never touched it)

WD40 and patience was my friend. I do wonder if it's possible to put anti-seize on the O2 sensors?

Use a propane torch to heat up the area around the o2 sensor. Rent an o2 sensor removal tool from an auto parts store and put a breaker bar on it.

A penetrating spray (WD-40 is not one) might help a bit, but the heat is doing the heavy lifting.

Personally, I wouldn't risk trying to remove the O2 sensor from the stock manifold if it's stuck like that. Chances are, you'll ruin both the sensor and the manifold.

Buy a new one if you can help it.

As for overpipe, remove the heat shield first. Then, tetris

I drenched mine in PB blaster, then used a special 02 sensor socket that has a slot for the wiring. Had someone stand on the manifold while I gave it hard jolts. It broke free with plenty of heat and effort

Leave it in there. Get a new one.

Heat, salt, moisture, time. Every heat shield on every header everywhere.
