Awkward Encounters

This is random topic but has anyone had any awkward encounters with other sport car drivers?

Here is my story. I was at a light turning left and I was minding my own business not doing anything wreckless like revving my engine just normal driving. I was making the left turn and I happened to glance over to a BMW, looked like a 335 series, and an asian guy (looked young maybe mid/early 20s), just gives me the stare down and makes a gun with his hand and pretends to shoot me, I saw his mouth move like trying to make the sound effect. My car is basically all stock except exhaust and intake, And no exterior mods. So idk what that's suppose to mean. Anyone gone through anything similar? Just curious.

You sure she chasing or just trying to keep up? I speed up to other twins on the road just to caravan with them...

Had awkward encounter at the track some time back with another FRS owner. Not bad, just hard to carry a conversation, I realize it's rare for me to find a car guy I can have a conversation about cars with, we generally either come to the same conclusion or differing ones straight away and it stops.

I am now wondering if it was squadrogue...

Old story from this thread but http://www.ft86club.com/forums/showthread.php?t=28502 but for you new guys

Oct6/14
Soooo went a long time with nothin' now they are coming out of the wood work!
Some great poetic justice on this one though.
Was sitting at a light on Friday and a last gen Eclipse pulls up beside me. He looks over and starts to rev the living crap out of it.
The light changes, he pops the clutch at what must have been close to redline and immediately torque steers right into the curb!
I slowly drove away, took a brief trip around the block and went past from the other direction.
He was still there with an almost horizontal wheel and a rapidly spreading puddle of fluids under the car!

Was gonna honk and wave but it is a small city and my car stands out too much to take the chance on retaliation.

So just how often do you get to update a "come race me bro" encounter?
Went to a local burger joint for lunch and who should pull in beside me but Mr. Eclipse himself!
This guy is massive and about half my age (glad I had restraint and didn't honk and wave after his crash)
I think "oh shit this may not be pretty".
He walks over sticks his hand out and introduces himself.
Turns out he was a really nice guy (thank god).
He also confirmed something I have always wondered about regarding some of what we think must be "race me" encounters.
He said when he was revving he wasn't challenging me he just liked the sound of my exhaust at idle and wanted to hear it revved a bit.
When he took off he was just trying to get ahead of me to see the front of the car.
He had no idea what the car was much less how fast or slow it was and just wanted a better look.
Told him probably better to just roll down the window and gesture next time as I would have been happy to pull over and chat.
I was correct in my assumption that he torque steered and the error cost him $1200 in repairs.
So, I guess the moral of the story is even though a lot of the flybys and tail huggers are certainly just assholes many may be simply curious.
We know so much about the car that we seem to think everybody else does and that just isn't reality.

You give me hope. Maybe someday I will meet the guy in the BMW as I work in that area and ask him what he meant by his gesture

Would love to meet up with this asshat!

Had one the other day and not sure if the guy was trying to race, checking out my car or just a really, REALLY bad driver but he almost killed us both!
Was coming off the on ramp onto the highway and just hit traffic speed (a little over 100KPH) and pulled into the center lane to go around a slower truck. Noticed a newish Porsche 911 coming up beside me like a rocket in the passing lane. As soon as he got beside me he slowed right down and paced me.

Was some older guy (and I am no youngster so this guy was OLD) and he seemed to be ignoring me completely.

I was coming up to another slower truck so wanted to get over to the passing lane so sped up. He paced me. Slowed down. He paced me.. As traffic was piling up behind him he finally floored it and took off and I slid into the spot he just so abruptly left. We passed the truck and he stayed right beside me in the center lane. As I am a strong believer the passing lane is for PASSING and the center lane ws now clear other then the Porsche I signaled to go over and guess what he did? That's right, he paced me! No matter what I did he would not let me come over.

Eventually I caught him off guard and managed to get in behind him. He now went over to the far right lane annnnnnd... paced me! We drove on like this for a bit and I eventually came up to another truck. As he was in the right lane I was able to slip right into the passing lane and get around it.

So here is where he almost got us both! I pass the truck check to make sure all is clear (Porsche several car lengths back in the right lane) and start over into the center lane. This Dbag floors it cuts in front of the truck and slows down again right beside me as I am changing lanes. I just managed to abort the lane change in time and missed him by a fraction of an inch. As soon as I go back over he immediately whips back into the right lane and takes an exit that was only about 50 yards further up the road.

At no time did I try to play with him or do anything in response to his antics so it was not like he should have felt I was a willing participant in his little display. He hit speeds of better then 140KPH and dropped as low as about 80 and never once signaled a thing all on a very busy highway at rush hour. I was just trying to get home from work!

@Tcoat that's how I felt. I was minding my own business just driving normal. I'm guessing the bmw/Porsche guys feel all big in bad in their car. I know my car is slow and in no need trying to race no one. I had a older civic like early 90s try to race me because I passed him. I was not speeding I was doing 5-7mph over posted limit. Next thing I know this civic and his big and loud fart Can passes me spitting out all this blueish smoke haha

Ths one time I met a guy who was 100% sure our cars were turbo and about 400hp. I told him it's "just" a 2.0 and it's not turbo or supercharged. Then he tried to convince me it was turbo and had much more than 200hp.

Talk about awkward.

Once I was on a red light next to this dude wearing sunglasses in a newish modified lowered Honda Accord. I was on the lane to make a left and he was going straight. Both our windows down. His head turned all the way facing me the whole time (even after it turned green). Me being not only very shy and hate making eye contact with strangers on the road, pretended not to notice his long creepy stare. My grandma was in the passenger seat and my little brother sitting behind her telling me how he just didn't move his head during the whole time...

Once I pulled up to the gas station and this Honda civic (not a si) with si badges and stickers all spread around the whole car was leaving as I was getting gas. The car soon came back when I just finished. The guy looked angry and looked like he was yelling at me but I had no idea what he was saying. He gave up and I saw him take a pic of me in my car and drove off. I assumed he mistaken me for this other Asian girl who drove a WRB BRZ too in the city (this was during the time BRZs were still new). After that incident, I've been seeing him around on the road especially when I drive to work or from work. And even once he happened to be driving down my street when I just got home and parked my car in front of my house. He slowed down when he saw me.
